Handmade Functional Ceramics and Stoneware Collection
Every mug, bowl, and plate you see here starts as a simple lump of clay in our Nayandahalli studio. We fire these in our gas kiln, embracing the unpredictable magic of reduction firing to create unique, earthy finishes.
**(Repeated from Featured)** Watch the magic of glazing unfold. What starts as a plain, milky liquid transforms in the heat of our gas kiln to reveal stunning, vibrant colors. This is a beautiful rutile blue glaze on one of our handmade spoon rests.
**(Repeated from Featured)** The best part of the process is opening the kiln. After two long days of cooling, we finally get to see the results of our glaze firing. We're so happy with how this gorgeous green celadon dinnerware set turned out.
We love experimenting with glazes. This video showcases the results of our most experimental firing, with wacky combos and beautiful, unexpected outcomes on our handmade mugs.
Introducing our signature Mudlife glazes. After two failed rounds, we finally perfected our recipes for Green Celadon, Languid Magic, and a pastel blue Chun, all tested on these small cups.
About The Finished Piece: Our Ceramic Collection
Because we use a specialized gas kiln for reduction firing at 1285°C, our pieces develop earthy, speckled finishes that standard electric kilns cannot replicate. This process is fickle and leaves us at the mercy of the kiln gods, but that is exactly why every piece is one-of-a-kind. When you hold one of our mugs, you are not just holding a mass-produced item; you are holding a unique experiment with texture and heat that we have carefully guided from wet clay to your dining table.
We spend weeks testing our glazes—mixing, tweaking, and firing—to get the perfect balance. Whether it is the soft, pale blue of our Chun glaze or the deep, rich tones of our Tenmoku, each layer of glaze is applied by hand before the intense heat of the gas kiln transforms it.
We focus on functional stoneware because we believe pottery should be used, not just displayed. Our dinnerware, ranging from cereal bowls to large platters, is designed to be sturdy enough for daily use in your kitchen. Because we are a small team, we do not have massive stocks; most of our work happens in small, distinct batches. If you are looking for a specific set for your home or a custom gift, get in touch to see what is currently sitting on our drying racks or when our next firing cycle is scheduled.
