Meet the Founders of Studio Mudlife
We’re Shreya and Mahanth, the pair behind Studio Mudlife. We built this space to bring the slow, meditative art of pottery to Bengaluru, blending technical craft with a focus on wellness.
**(Repeated from Featured)** Meet us, Mahanth and Shreya. We're partners in life and in the studio. We started Mudlife to build a space that feels like a warm, inclusive home where anyone can come to create and unwind.
Here we are answering some of your questions. We talk about why we started the studio, what it's like working together as a couple, and how we balance our roles to make it all work.
A day in the life at Mudlife. Mahanth is at the wheel throwing bowls for our next firing, while Shreya is practicing new hand-building techniques.
A quiet moment between us at the studio. We believe our partnership is the foundation of Mudlife, and we work hard to support each other's dreams.
Both of us at the wheel. While Mahanth is the primary potter, Shreya also loves to throw and finds it a great way to connect with the therapeutic side of our work.
About Meet Us: Shreya & Mahanth
Mahanth handles the technical wheel throwing and glaze science, while I (Shreya) focus on the mindful, therapeutic side of our classes. We’re not a factory line; we’re a small team working in a natural, plant-filled space in Nayandahalli where things take time and often get a little messy.
When we decided to open Studio Mudlife in Bengaluru, we didn't want just another workshop space. We wanted a place where the kiln gods, as we call them, are part of the process, and where the outcome matters less than the act of making.
Mahanth brings the technical discipline from years of training as a studio potter. He’s the one obsessing over glaze chemistry, temperature curves in the gas kiln, and the structural integrity of every mug and bowl. I (Shreya) bring my background in trauma-informed care into the room. This means our sessions—whether it's a casual weekend workshop or a month-long intensive—are designed for decompression.
We often get asked if it’s hard working together as a couple. The honest answer is that we’ve had to learn how to keep our personal relationship separate from the studio rhythm. It’s been a rollercoaster of late nights, firing mishaps, and genuine joy when a student pulls their first successful piece off the wheel. If you join us for a session, you won’t find a corporate setup. You’ll find two people who are passionate about sharing why we fell in love with clay in the first place. Whether you're here to learn wheel throwing or just want to ground yourself in a bit of mindfulness, we’re here to help you get your hands dirty.
