About Interior Design
What We Do
I see interior design as more than picking out fancy stuff or matching colours. For me, it’s about creating a space that feels alive, where every detail is thought through and nothing feels random. I work closely with clients, sometimes even getting into long chats over chai, to really get a sense of what feels like “home” for them.
Materials & Craft
Materials are everything. I love using in-situ terrazzo - those seamless, stone-speckled floors and counters in unexpected colours. You’ll spot a lot of polished concrete and warm teak or birch in my work, from custom four-poster beds to slatted ceilings. I don’t just buy things off the shelf - most furniture is designed by me and made by local artisans. Sometimes, I even get Thangka artists or mural painters to add that little bit of magic.
Spaces That Change With You
Homes should flow. I like using sliding or pivot panels in teak, rattan, or fluted glass so rooms can open up or close off depending on the mood. Big windows, verandas, and indoor courts are my way of pulling the outside in - making a park or a garden part of the home itself. This is my take on indoor-outdoor home design.
A Few Stories
- In Bangalore, I mixed Scarpa-style terrazzo with teak and built a bunk bed that’s also a storage ninja.
- In Mumbai, sliding panels with hand-painted art made a huge apartment feel both grand and cosy.
- For a house by a park, I used rattan screens to frame green views and turned old-school jagalis into cool hangout spots.
If you’re after bespoke furniture design or something that just feels real and lived-in, we might get along.

My Story
We’re Studio Motley. Architecture for us isn’t just walls and roofs, it’s about stitching together stories. We love mixing old-school Indian crafts with modern touches - like Channapatna wood or a Thangka panel. Every project, we chat a lot with clients and our craftsmen, working out the little details. For us, a home’s got to have soul, not just look pretty.
My Work
Architecture, Urban Design & Interiors - We handle everything - from ground-up buildings to tiny details inside. Custom Channapatna furniture? We’re in.
Design Philosophy - Spaces should talk. We balance light, shade, openness, and solid bits, so rooms feel grounded but not boxed in.
Natural Materials & Craft - We’re big on teak, terrazzo laid insitu, rattan interiors, and stone. Local artists help us create unique stuff.
Inside-Out Living - Nature’s always part of the plan. We like verandahs, jagalis, and borrowed landscape design, keeping outdoors close.
