House of Skye: Contemporary Bangalore Interior Design
A project defined by textures, where pink terrazzo meets warm teak and whitewashed brick to create a home that feels open, light, and deeply lived-in.
The living room of the 'House of Skye' combines a simple, sophisticated material palette: a whitewashed brick wall, warm herringbone wood floors, and comfortable, modern furniture.

About this collection
One detail that completely changes how this space functions is the modular teak shelving unit in the living area. We built it with interchangeable boxes so the shelves can be reconfigured as your collection of books or travel souvenirs grows, rather than forcing you to live with a static, fixed layout.
The House of Skye project in Bangalore represents our ongoing exploration of how modern interior architecture can remain grounded and tactile. We focused on a honest material palette to connect the indoor environment with the exterior landscape, specifically drawing on views of the nearby Hulimavu Lake.
Materiality and Craft
We utilized in-situ terrazzo as a primary floor finish, creating a seamless, stone-speckled surface that flows across the living, dining, and bedroom areas. This choice of pink and grey terrazzo adds a subtle playfulness that contrasts with the architectural rigidity of the whitewashed brick walls. To introduce warmth, we incorporated solid teak wood for joinery and flooring, ensuring the space feels inviting rather than clinical.
Adaptable Living
Our design process emphasizes creating rooms that can evolve. In this home, we moved away from rigid cabinetry. Instead, we developed custom modular units using birch and teak, allowing for dynamic display spaces that adapt to the client's changing needs. We also utilized fluted glass partitions to separate the dining and living zones, allowing light to penetrate the entire floor plate while maintaining a sense of separation.
Why This Design Matters
Many homeowners struggle with balancing an open floor plan with the need for privacy. By using sliding panels and strategic furniture placement rather than solid wall partitions, we maintain a sense of volume. Whether you are looking for luxury interior architecture in Bangalore or are interested in how we manage the technical detailing of in-situ flooring, this project serves as a practical example of our design methodology.
