About Commercial & Institutional Architecture
What Drives Us
I see architecture as more than floor plans - it’s all about the stories people live inside those walls. Every breeze from a window, every patch of sunlight, and the way folks move through a space matters. I get that offices, schools, and labs aren’t just buildings - they’re places where people grow and connect.
Approach: Smart Design, Real Value
- Climate-responsive architecture is my jam. I’ll study sun paths, wind, and local weather, so every space gets natural light and stays comfy.
- I don’t believe you need a fancy budget for a great space. Less is usually more - clean lines, simple shapes, and fewer materials make things feel calm and uncluttered.
- Spaces have to work for people. I start by mapping out daily routines, so the layout supports what you do.
- Materials matter. Wood, metal, concrete - when they’re chosen right, they give a space its vibe.
Workspaces & Community Buildings
I like turning boring offices into places that lift your mood and help you get stuff done. For a law firm, I used oak, matte black metal, and soft finishes to make it inviting but strong. For a marketing office, terracotta screens (jaalis) added ventilation and a museum feel.
Institutional projects are close to my heart. For an NGO school, I broke the usual boxy mold with wind tunnels for cooling, a huge blackboard wall, and a rooftop hangout.
Technical Spaces, No Drama
I get excited by technical challenges too. I once designed a 3000 sq. ft. mushroom lab, mapping every corner for workflow and climate control. Learned a lot about mushrooms, honestly!
I’m all about creating spots where work and life just click.

My Story
Hey, we’re Ambica and Jhashank from Studio Wight. For us, architecture’s not just walls and roofs, it’s the vibe you get walking in—be it a playful Anganwadi school or a modern villa with crazy light and shadow play. One day we’re deep in Nalukettu house design (Kerala style, so much Vastu), next day, we’re sketching mushroom labs. We love mixing tradition with what’s new, always chasing that good energy and making spaces that actually feel alive.
My Work

Sustainable & Climate-Friendly Design - We’re big on native landscape design and buildings that breathe—low carbon, low fuss, lots of smart cross-ventilation.
Tradition Meets Modern - Vernacular home interiors, Nalukettu and Chettinad vibes mixed with clean, minimal lines. Nostalgia plus new-age.
Hands-On & Detail Obsessed - From sketch to handover, we’re in it. Shoutout to our craftspeople—the real magicians behind every project.
