We believe your home should tell your story. By blending traditional Indian architectural details with clean, contemporary layouts, we create spaces that feel both nostalgic and ready for today's lifestyle.

This dining area pays homage to the client's heritage with traditional wooden columns and a 'katte' bench. A discreet puja unit is hidden behind CNC jali doors, seamlessly integrating spirituality into the design.

Opposite the dining area, a wall features a traditional peacock wallpaper, creating a beautiful focal point. A small console table holds a Krishna idol, blending spiritual elements with modern decor.

The foyer of the 'Kanasu' home sets a nostalgic tone with frames showing life in Mangalore. A vintage-style cabinet with antique handles embodies the harmony of old-world charm and contemporary functionality.

To provide privacy for the open kitchen, I designed this beautiful arched door with stained glass panels. It adds to the home's traditional aesthetic while allowing light to pass through.

About Modern-Traditional Homes

Integrating traditional elements into a modern apartment layout requires precision, especially when dealing with structural pieces like solid wood columns or 'katte' bench seating. In this project, we balanced these heavy, nostalgic features against a minimalist white backdrop to keep the space feeling open rather than cluttered. The key is in the transition, such as using custom stained glass arch doors to divide areas without blocking natural light.

The traditional wooden 'jula', or swing, is a centerpiece in this home, set against a warm exposed brick wall. It’s a nostalgic element that invites relaxation and conversation.7

This living area features a modern take on the traditional 'thinnai' or raised verandah seating. The curved, built-in bench is paired with patterned floor tiles and woven pendant lights for a look that is both contemporary and classic.12

This crockery unit was designed to integrate seamlessly with the traditional decor of the living room. It features rich wood, mirrored accents with ethnic motifs, and glass shutters, blending modern storage needs with classic style.
This living room is a perfect example of "understated elegance." The wooden partition with its intricate design and the matching wooden rafters on the ceiling create a grand, traditional feel that is both timeless and impressive.

This living room is where modern comfort meets timeless Indian artistry. I anchored the space with a large, hand-carved wooden panel and a delicate jali screen, creating a backdrop that feels both grand and personal. The neutral sofas and contemporary lighting ensure the room remains bright and welcoming, a perfect space for family stories to unfold.8
In this bedroom, I explored the power of a monochrome palette to create a space that is both youthful and sophisticated. The design is built on layers of texture, from the lime-washed wall behind the bed to the abstract art and soft linens. Every detail, including the modern wall sconce and custom headboard, was chosen to make the compact room feel intentional and full of character.
I believe a dining room should be the heart of the home, a place that naturally draws people together. Here, the warm, earthy tones on the walls and the elegant marble tabletop create an inviting atmosphere for shared meals and conversations. The space is completed with a simple white crockery unit and touches of red and brass, making it feel cherished and lived-in.
First impressions matter, and the foyer of our 'Kaalam' project sets a tone of rooted tradition. A reclaimed wooden sthamba (pillar) stands as a proud centerpiece, complemented by the rustic texture of an exposed brick wall and a vintage-inspired mirror. This entry is a deliberate nod to the past, reinterpreted for a modern home.
