Earthy & Warm Living Spaces
Your living area should not just look good, it should feel like a grounding embrace. I create spaces using raw materials like cane, wood, and brick, blending modern functionality with the organic texture of a truly lived-in home.
This dining area flows seamlessly from the living room, anchored by a custom live-edge dining table and rounded chairs. The crockery unit features a mix of fluted and cane details, while a brick-clad niche adds rustic charm.
The TV wall is a focal point, finished in a soft micro-topping to create texture and depth. The minimal TV console uses rattan shutters to hide wires, and brick cladding on the side connects it to the rest of the living space.

This dining room showcases a Wabi-Sabi aesthetic with its limewash wall and banana fibre-finished crockery console. The custom live-edge dining table and chairs bring an organic, natural feel to the space.
This living room from my Miyu project is defined by clean lines and natural textures. A comfortable leather sofa is paired with a cane bench and a solid wood coffee table, creating a simple, uncluttered, and functional space with organic charm.
Designed for simplicity, this living area features a blush pink sofa that adds a modern touch against the neutral walls. The TV unit is designed to conceal gadgets, maintaining a timeless and uncluttered look.
In this dining area, I kept the design simple and minimal. The standout piece is a custom vintage-style crockery unit. Above the table, wicker lights add a natural texture and create a warm, inviting atmosphere for meals.
To make use of a large blank wall in this living room, I designed this open shelving unit. It serves as a beautiful focal point for displaying personal decor while maintaining a light and airy feel.
This living room was designed to connect with the beautiful backyard. I replaced standard doors with arched sliding doors and used brick tiles for an earthy feature wall, which also displays the client's personal travel photos.

About Earthy & Warm Living Spaces
When designing a living space, the biggest challenge is often creating warmth without adding clutter. I frequently use a singular textured element, like a micro-concrete TV wall or a brick-clad niche, to anchor the entire room. This gives the eyes a place to rest and immediately sets a calm, organic tone that makes the whole area feel more intentional and cohesive.
I believe that a living room needs to work as hard as it looks. In my projects, like the Miyu and Mridang homes in Bangalore, I focus on layouts that solve real problems. Often, this means creating an entryway where none existed by using an asymmetric arch, or hiding bulky electronics behind custom rattan shutters so the technology doesn't dominate the space.
My Approach to Living Spaces
- Materiality: I use raw, honest materials. Micro-topping for walls, lime wash for depth, and solid wood for furniture. These aren't just aesthetic choices; they age beautifully and bring a sense of permanence to your home.
- Functionality: Minimalism doesn't mean empty. It means everything has a place. I design custom storage—from TV consoles with cane shutters to open shelving that turns your books and decor into part of the room's character.
- Lighting & Flow: Lighting changes how you live in a space. I often mix warm profile lighting with natural textures like banana fiber pendants to create a transition from daytime brightness to evening warmth.
If your home feels a bit too 'builder-grade' and lacks personality, we can work on introducing these tactile layers. Whether it is bringing in a traditional jhula or creating a cozy reading nook by the window, the goal is always to make the space feel like a story, not a showroom.
