Flowing Through Motherhood: Movement as Medicine

For me, flow arts are more than just a performance. They are my 'saans' (breath) amidst the beautiful chaos of #mamalife. These visuals capture my journey of finding balance, strength, and rhythm while raising my little one.

It’s been a year since I have had these beautiful palm torches and I couldn’t do them proper justice. Being a mama to a 7 month old boy has taken all my time and energy, whatever I had left, I poured to this flow.

As soon as I received these new palm torches I had to make a video. I had given a break to performing as you can see why. But here I was at 8.5 months dancing my heart away with my newly obtained palm torches.

I’m so glad so many of you came to the fire jam because this was the last that I would spin fire for a few months now. I was 8 months pregnant and it was an impromptu and beautiful night.

If this slow-mo Saree Flow in a Temple setting is not enough then just wait 10 seconds to see the main character entry. Sharing my art and my life with my little one is the greatest joy.

About Flowing Through Motherhood

Whether I am spinning fire while pregnant or incorporating my child into my saree flow practice, I treat every movement as a grounding exercise. I do not just teach the mechanics of poi or fans. I help you find a space to breathe and reclaim your identity, even when your daily routine feels like a constant juggle.
