About Courses & Teacher Training
These are not resort-style yoga holidays. Life in our Amboli ashram follows a strict, traditional discipline that begins at 5:20 AM and includes daily karma yoga. You will be living a simple, sattvic life with two vegetarian meals a day, shared accommodation, and full immersion into the five points of yoga, ensuring you leave with a grounded understanding of practice rather than just a certificate.
Our Approach to Teacher Training
We adhere strictly to the Sivananda lineage, where the goal of our teacher training and residential courses is to facilitate a deep transformation of the mind and spirit. This is not about gymnastics or perfecting a pose for display. It is about understanding the 'why' behind the practice. Our curriculum balances rigorous asana practice with the study of Vedanta philosophy, ensuring that every participant gains the knowledge to teach with authenticity.
The Reality of Ashram Life
When you join our programs, you are stepping into a traditional Gurukula environment. The daily routine is structured to foster inner discipline. You will participate in two 90-minute asana sessions daily, coupled with dedicated time for chanting, meditation, and scripture study. We operate on a 'sattvic' schedule: waking before dawn, following a strict vegetarian diet with two meals daily, and engaging in one hour of daily selfless service (karma yoga).
Our facilities in Amboli reflect this simplicity. We offer basic, clean accommodation with shared bathrooms, and you will find no television, air conditioning, or external distractions here. This environment is intentionally created to help you disconnect from worldly noise and connect with your true Self.
