The Path of Hatha Yoga: Asana & Pranayama
Yoga is not merely a workout but a science of the body and mind. Here, we practice the Sivananda lineage—focusing on asana, pranayama, and disciplined relaxation to cultivate strength and inner clarity.
Practicing asanas by the sea connects us to the five elements. Here, I demonstrate a posture on the beach, integrating the rhythm of the waves with the breath, a key part of our international yoga retreats.

Proper relaxation is as important as proper exercise. Students practice Savasana in a beautiful hall in Gurgaon, absorbing the benefits of their asana practice under my guidance.

Yoga is for everyone, regardless of age. I enjoy sharing the practice with the youngest of students, here helping a child explore Dhanurasana (bow pose) in a gentle and supportive way during a program in Dubai.
During a masterclass in Dubai, I observe and guide students in their forward bends. My focus is always on teaching the authentic principles of Hatha yoga for physical health and mental peace.
Assisting a student in Ananda Balasana (happy baby pose) helps to release the lower back and hips. Personal attention is a key part of my teaching, ensuring each student practices safely and effectively.
About The Path of Hatha Yoga: Asana & Pranayama
Understand that this is not a spa retreat. Whether you join us in our Amboli ashram or at an international session, expect a routine that includes daily meditation, chanting, and a mandatory hour of karma yoga (selfless service). We serve two simple, sattvic meals a day, and the practice is physically grounding, focusing on the five points of yoga to help you look within rather than just stretch the body.
My instruction is deeply rooted in the Sivananda lineage, which prioritizes the five points of yoga: proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, and positive thinking. Unlike modern fitness studios, we view asana not as a performance, but as a systematic way to purify the nervous system and prepare the mind for meditation.
The Practice
When we practice hatha yoga and pranayama together, we are building a foundation of discipline. In my sessions, you will not find fancy, acrobatic poses. You will find precise, traditional adjustments that ensure you are working with your body, not against it. My goal is to guide you to a state where your body becomes a steady seat for meditation.
Life at the Ashram
For those visiting our base in Amboli, Maharashtra, expect an immersion into simple living. We maintain basic standards—wooden cots, mosquito nets, and no air conditioning. This is by design. By removing modern distractions, you are forced to confront your own mind. We follow a strict schedule: wake up at 5:20 AM and lights out by 10:00 PM. Our vegetarian meals are simple and spice-free, designed to keep the mind calm and focused.
Who Should Attend
This path is for anyone with a sincere desire for self-knowledge, regardless of your current flexibility or fitness level. Whether you are a beginner or a teacher, if you are tired of surface-level yoga and want to understand the deeper philosophy of Vedanta, you will find a home here. We welcome families, solo travelers, and seekers who are ready to commit to the discipline, knowing that while the physical practice may be challenging, the internal results are worth the effort.
