About The Sivananda Method: A Holistic Approach

Unlike fitness-focused gym yoga, our 90-minute sessions follow a precise sequence: we begin with chanting and breathing, move through the 12 basic postures with hands-on alignment, and conclude with deep relaxation. This structure ensures that your practice addresses physical strength, mental focus, and stress relief simultaneously, rather than simply stretching the muscles.

At our Dwarka centre, the Sivananda method is more than a workout; it is a comprehensive system designed for sustainable, daily living. We focus on Swami Vishnudevananda’s Five Points of Yoga to ensure your time on the mat translates into peace outside the studio.

The Five Points of Our Practice

  • Proper Exercise (Asanas): We teach the 12 basic postures that act as systematic tools to keep the body healthy. The sequence is designed to release tension, improve flexibility, and increase energy flow.
  • Proper Breathing (Pranayama): Through practices like Kapalabhati and Anulom Vilom, we connect the body to its battery—the solar plexus—recharging your mind and reducing anxiety.
  • Proper Relaxation (Savasana): Often the most overlooked part of exercise, we guide you through deep relaxation to calm the nervous system and manage the stress of city life.
  • Proper Diet: We encourage vegetarianism as a way to maintain clarity and lightness, supporting your physical practice with mindful eating.
  • Positive Thinking and Meditation (Vedanta and Dhyana): The ultimate goal is a peaceful mind. Our meditation sessions help you develop concentration and inner stability.
