This is how I approach healing. From injury rehabilitation to specialized therapy, these sessions show my method of using alignment and props to reclaim physical freedom.

This is why I teach. For years, a shoulder injury left me in severe pain, unable to even consider a workout. Through dedicated yoga therapy and understanding my body's alignment, I rebuilt my strength. Today, I practice handstands without any pain. I use my own journey to guide you out of your physical limitations and into a life of freedom.

Guiding a student safely into Supta Kurmasana. Advanced postures like this are not about forcing the body. They require precise alignment, breath awareness, and trust. My hands-on adjustments ensure you are supported at every step, helping you explore your limits without fear of injury.

Understanding the 'why' behind an injury is the first step to healing. Here, I am explaining how to engage the right muscles to perform a stretch safely. My approach is to educate you about your own body, so you can practice with intelligence and confidence, turning weak points into sources of strength.

The fear of falling often holds us back more than any physical limitation. In my classes, we tackle this fear head-on. I teach you how to fall safely from inversions, so you can practice with courage and freedom, knowing you have the skills to protect yourself.

Props are not a crutch; they are tools for healing and deeper understanding. We use ropes, blocks, and balls in the authentic Iyengar tradition to make poses accessible, support the body during recovery, and correct postural imbalances that are often the root cause of chronic pain.

This is what consistent, guided practice can achieve. Jyoti's journey from learning the basics of a headstand to holding it in meditation for 43 minutes is a testament to her discipline and the power of yoga. Your goals are achievable with the right guidance and dedication.

I offer specialized workshops focused on women's health, addressing issues like PCOD, hormonal imbalances, and pelvic floor dysfunction. Here, my colleague Shraddha Utekar explains the anatomy of pelvic floor muscles, providing targeted knowledge to empower women in their healing journey.

My path to yoga was a journey of choosing freedom. For 12 years, I have been free from addiction. This experience is the foundation of my teaching. I understand what it means to feel trapped, and I know the discipline and faith it takes to heal. I am here to guide you on your own path to freedom.

About Featured

When I teach, I do not just correct your posture. I look for the root cause of your pain, whether it is a chronic shoulder injury or a spinal issue. I use Iyengar props like ropes and blocks to deconstruct the movement, allowing you to strengthen the muscles around the injury without stress. You will not see me rushing you into a pose here. We move only when you are ready, with your body fully supported.

Healing is not about shortcuts or magic pills. It is about alignment, consistency, and understanding how your body actually moves. Whether you are dealing with PCOD, slip disc issues, or post-workout injuries, my sessions focus on moving you from a state of pain to a state of stability.

The Science of My Practice

I integrate Iyengar prop therapy into my classes because they allow for precise structural alignment. By using wall-rope systems and wooden blocks, we provide spinal traction and anti-gravity relief, which is impossible to achieve on a standard mat. This is how I personally overcame a severe shoulder injury that left me unable to move for a year.

Why Personalized Therapy Matters

In a group setting, it is easy to get lost. That is why I keep my group batches small, with 5 to 8 students. This ensures that every adjustment I make is tailored to your specific physical limitations.

  • For Injury Recovery: We avoid flow-based movements that can exacerbate inflammation. Instead, we use static postures to rebuild strength.
  • For Women’s Health: We run specialized tracks for PCOD, pelvic floor issues, and hormonal health, incorporating specific Asanas and breathwork.
  • For Beginners: If you are afraid to move or have been told you are too stiff, this is where you start. Fear is the enemy of healing, and we work to dismantle it through safe, guided practice.

My studio in Ghatkopar East serves as a sanctuary for those who are serious about long-term health. If you are ready to stop managing your pain and start fixing the root cause, I am ready to guide you.

I am Shri Thorat. Yoga is how I rebuilt my own life, and it is the tool I use to help you heal yours. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all training, which is why I combine Iyengar prop work, anatomy, and deep breathwork to address the specific injuries or restrictions holding you back.
