Yoga Community & Advanced Practice in Ghatkopar
My yogashala is not just a place to sweat. It is where we build a family, challenge each other on the mat, and find peace in the mountains together.
Come to Ghatkopar to learn authentic yoga. My partner Shraddha and I have over a decade of experience teaching everyone from beginners to other yoga teachers, focusing on anatomy, philosophy, and traditional practices.
Assisting a student in Dwi Pada Sirsasana. This challenging pose enhances flexibility and focus. The Sanskrit chant in the background is a reminder of the spiritual dimension of our practice.
Trust, balance, and a little bit of flying. Partner yoga, or AcroYoga, is a beautiful way to build communication and connection while having fun. Here we are practicing a front bird pose.
आमचं मस्तक सदैव गड किल्यांच्या मातिशी. My head will always bow to the soil of our forts and the feet of Shivaji Maharaj. Practicing Shirshasana on Sondai fort is my way of paying respect.
Invert, breathe, repeat. Finding a moment of stillness and balance with a headstand amidst the beautiful, hazy sunset in the mountains.
Headstand with my students at Korigad Fort. Taking our practice outdoors connects us with nature and our rich history. Where serenity meets adventure.
Peak happiness is finding a moment of peace and balance by the water at sunset. A simple headstand becomes a profound connection with nature.
Flipping out in nature. A headstand in a lush green meadow during the monsoon is pure joy. It's about finding your center no matter the surroundings.
Finding balance with breathtaking views. Practicing a headstand on a grassy mountain slope is a powerful way to connect with the earth and the sky.
Embracing balance and strength, one headstand at a time, even when the world around you is covered in mist. Yoga teaches us to find our center, both physically and mentally.
About Our Community: In the Yogashala & Beyond
We do not practice asanas in isolation here. Whether it is AcroYoga in the studio or holding headstands on the historic peaks of the Sahyadris, we focus on communication, trust, and shared growth. This community is for those who want to move beyond the gym and find a real, supportive path in their yoga journey where we actually help each other improve.
Yoga is a practice of freedom, and true freedom is found when we let go of ego and connect with others. At Shri Thorat Yoga, I teach that 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) is not just a shloka, it is how we function. My studio sessions in Ghatkopar and Powai are intense—we focus on strict alignment, anatomy, and breathwork—but the real bonding happens when we step outside. We take our practice to the mountains, finding stillness in inversions atop forts like Korigad and Sondai. This connects us with nature and our history, turning a workout into a spiritual adventure.
Partner yoga is a core part of this community. It requires deep trust and clear communication. You learn to balance your weight with another person, which translates to better stability and focus in your daily life. It is not just about the pose; it is about the energy exchange between people. We also organize workshops on Shatkarmas (cleansing techniques) and advanced pranayama because a community that cleanses and breathes together, grows together. You will find people here who push you, support you, and practice with you. If you are looking for a place to simply count reps, this is not it. If you are looking for a tribe that does the work and faces challenges together, you are in the right place.
Thorat Yogashala
I started this journey 12 years ago when I chose freedom over darkness. I do not believe in corporate titles or fake credentials; I believe in the practice itself. Come, join me and our community, and let us grow stronger together.
