I believe yoga is a work-in, not just a workout. Here, we move beyond basic asanas to explore the science of alignment, inversion mastery, and the freedom that comes from disciplined, authentic practice.

This is a demonstration of a vinyasa flow, moving with control from Vishwamitrasana to Paschimottanasana. For me, yoga is this seamless connection between strength, flexibility, and breath, a moving meditation that builds inner fire and focus.

Here, I am providing a safe, hands-on adjustment for Supta Kurmasana. My teaching is grounded in personal attention and a deep understanding of anatomy, ensuring you can explore advanced postures like this with confidence and without injury.

This is one of my dedicated students, Jyoti, holding a stable headstand for over 40 minutes with her eyes closed. This is the result of consistent practice and discipline, transforming a physical posture into a deep state of meditation.

I believe yoga is an inward journey, not an outward show. In this video, I discuss a shloka from the Hatha Yogic texts to explain that practice, or 'kriya', is the true path to progress, not the clothes we wear or the titles we hold.

Using props like blocks is a smart way to build the strength and confidence needed for challenging moves like drop-backs. Here, my students are working on opening their hearts and spines, trusting the process and supporting each other.

This is a glimpse into our Shuddhikriya workshop, where students learn Jalkram Kapalabhati. This traditional cleansing technique is incredibly powerful for respiratory health, especially for those of us living in the city.

Practicing inversions in the Sahyadris connects me to nature and my roots. A headstand on a mountain top is a reminder that with a stable foundation and focus, you can find balance anywhere, in any situation.

In my advanced Ashtanga batches, we focus on mastering asanas like Dhanurasana and Urdhva Dhanurasana. The goal is to build amazing strength and flexibility through proper alignment and a deep understanding of each posture.

About Featured

When you step onto the mat in my shala, expect no fluff. I focus heavily on microscopic alignment corrections, whether we are working on headstands or deep backbends. Using tools like rope walls for spinal traction, I make sure your body understands the mechanics behind every movement so you can practice safely and independently.

My approach to advanced yoga is rooted in Hatha, Ashtanga, and Iyengar traditions. This isn't about fitting into a shape; it's about understanding the internal work.

Why the focus on mechanics?

Many students arrive wanting to master inversions like headstands (Shirshasana) or handstands (Adho Mukha Vrksasana). Strength alone isn't enough; you need proper alignment to avoid long-term wear and tear. In my sessions, we deconstruct these postures. We look at the skeletal variations and the specific engagement required to hold poses stably and without pain.

Beyond the asana

Yoga is incomplete without addressing the breath and the internal state. My advanced batches integrate:

  • Pranayama & Bandhas: To control the flow of energy and sharpen focus.
  • Shuddhikriya: Traditional cleansing practices, such as Jalkram Kapalabhati, to manage the impact of city living and pollution on respiratory health.
  • Prop-based training: Using blocks, belts, and rope walls (Yoga Kurunta) to safely access deep backbends like Kapotasana and Urdhva Dhanurasana.

Whether you are an aspiring teacher looking to refine your cueing skills or a dedicated practitioner wanting to heal an injury, the goal remains the same: move towards freedom from physical and mental bondages. If you are ready to stop just performing poses and start actually practicing yoga, I am here to guide you through the process.
