I draw portraits that do more than look like you. Using detailed graphite and charcoal techniques, I capture the texture and expression that a photograph often misses.

This is a demonstration piece from my online pencil portrait class. I focused on creating an intense expression and realistic texture using various grades of graphite pencils to achieve deep shadows and bright highlights.

A charcoal portrait of a royal figure, showcasing a softer, more classical style. I used charcoal to create rich, dark tones and subtle gradations, capturing a sense of history and dignity.

A pencil sketch of a sadhu, focusing on the texture of his long beard and the details of his expression. This type of expressive portrait is perfect for capturing character and personality.

A live sketching session is always a unique experience. This video shows me creating a pencil portrait from life, capturing the model's likeness and expression as she sits for me.

A live pencil sketch created at a local cafe. Capturing a person's likeness in a natural environment is a challenge I enjoy, focusing on their features and mood in the moment.

Here is the finished live sketch alongside the subject. It's always rewarding to create a piece of art on the spot and share that moment with the person I'm drawing.

The eye is the window to the soul. This short tutorial video breaks down my process for drawing a realistic eye with a pencil, focusing on shading, highlights, and creating depth.

This is a portrait I created during a workshop in Delhi. It's an example of a more painterly style of portraiture, focusing on broad strokes and capturing the essence of the subject's expression.

About Lifelike Pencil Portraits

I use Chiaroscuro high-contrast shading to build depth, focusing on small details like skin pores and fabric folds so the portrait feels real. Every piece is treated with multiple layers of professional matte fixative to prevent smudging before being rolled into a crush-proof tube for safe shipping.

My process is about translating a moment from a photograph into a physical piece of art. When you commission a charcoal or graphite portrait, I work on 200 GSM acid-free paper to ensure the artwork does not yellow over time.

How We Work

Once you share your reference photo, I study the lighting and key features. I do not just trace; I render the form to bring out character. Because I focus on hyper-realistic textures, the time invested in each portrait ensures that the shading of facial hair, skin tone, and eyes is accurate.

Shipping and Care

I ship these portraits across India. I do not include frames because they are prone to breaking during transit. Instead, I pack the work in a protective, moisture-resistant sleeve and place it inside a heavy-duty cardboard tube. This ensures your portrait arrives safely, ready for you to frame locally according to your decor.

If you are looking for an authentic pencil drawing, whether it is for a gift or a personal keepsake, reach out with your photo. We can discuss your requirements and get started.
