Yoga Philosophy and Classes in GK-1
Yoga is more than just a physical workout. Explore the philosophy and mindful practices that help our students in Greater Kailash find balance, relief from pain, and mental clarity.
What does yoga give to my brain? In one word: "PEACE." The physical practice is a moving meditation that calms the endless chatter of the mind and brings a sense of inner stillness.
This is the invocation to Patanjali, which we often chant before practice. It honors the sage who gave us the gifts of yoga to purify the mind, grammar to purify speech, and Ayurveda to purify the body.
Curious about the benefits of our classes? This list covers it all: from pain relief and improved posture to mastering your breath and reducing stress. This is what a regular practice can do for you.

About Beyond the Mat: Philosophy & Information
If you are wondering how we approach yoga beyond just the asanas, this is where we share the method behind the movement. We focus on breathing techniques and mindfulness because a calm mind is just as important as a flexible body. Our batches in GK-1 are kept small so we can help you integrate these practices into your daily life, not just for the hour you spend in the studio.
Our Approach to Yoga
At our shala, we believe the physical posture is only the beginning. When you join our sessions, you will find that we place significant importance on Pranayama (breathwork) and meditation. These practices are not just for relaxation; they are tools to manage stress and improve your overall well-being. Whether you are dealing with chronic back pain or simply looking to calm an active mind, we teach you how to use your breath to regulate your nervous system.
Why We Emphasize Philosophy
Yoga comes from a deep tradition, and we honor that by teaching the 'why' alongside the 'how.' We often start our sessions by chanting the invocation to Patanjali. This is not about religion; it is about acknowledging the lineage of knowledge that gave us these techniques for physical and mental hygiene. By understanding the intent behind a movement, you perform it with more focus and safety, which is essential for students of all ages.
Stay Updated
We regularly update our schedule and host special events, like our Winter Yoga Bootcamps, to help you deepen your practice when you have extra time. If you are new to this, we recommend starting with our beginner-friendly batches. These are designed to build your foundation without the pressure of performance. Every student, whether 18 or 80, gets the personal attention they need to grow at their own pace.
