Handcrafted Ganpati Idols for Your Home Celebration
I bring the same devotion I pour into the grandest Mumbai Mandals to each small Ganpati idol I sculpt for your home. Every murti is handcrafted in my Lalbaug workshop with care and spiritual intent.
A look at a custom Ganpati idol I created for a home celebration. Adorned with a detailed mukut and rich fabrics, this murti shows that the same level of detail and care goes into smaller, personal idols.
A personal, emotional moment with one of my Ganpati creations before it leaves for its new home. This connection I feel with every idol, big or small, is what makes this art so meaningful to me.
This video shows the final preparations for a home Ganpati idol. After I finish the draping and decoration, the idol is carried out in a small, intimate procession to begin the family's celebration.
About Personal Ganpati Idols for Home Celebrations
I work exclusively with eco-friendly Shadu Mati (natural clay) for home idols, avoiding POP to keep the tradition pure. Every murti features real silk or Paithani fabric draping, hand-tied miniature turbans, and hyper-realistic eye painting done personally by me to ensure your Bappa looks divine.
Making an idol is not a job for me, it is a spiritual practice. When you book a personal Ganpati idol from my Lalbaug karkhana, you are not getting a factory-made product. You are getting a piece of art that takes weeks to sculpt, layer by layer, starting from a raw block of clay.
My Process
I hand-sculpt each idol without using molds. This allows me to customize the mudra (posture) of the hands and the expression on the face. Whether you want a Bappa who looks like he is resting or one giving a blessing, I can tailor the anatomy. After the sculpting is complete, I apply traditional vastralankar. This involves draping actual fabrics like silk, velvet, or Paithani on the idol, rather than painting clothes on. The final step is the ankhni, where I personally paint the eyes to bring life to the murti.
Materials and Quality
I use high-grade water-based natural colors that are safe for the environment. The structure is reinforced with jute fiber to ensure durability while keeping it fully eco-friendly. Since I focus on the quality of every single curve, I can only commit to a limited number of home commissions each season.
Booking Your Idol
My slots for home idols fill up months, and sometimes a year, in advance. If you are planning a celebration for the upcoming Ganeshotsav, please reach out as early as possible. This allows me to give your idol the time and attention it deserves before it leaves my workshop for your home.
