Grand Ganpati Idols for Mumbai Sarvajanik Mandals
I create large-scale, handcrafted Ganpati idols in my Lalbaug karkhana, designed specifically for the unique energy of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav. Each murti is sculpted with devotion and engineering precision to ensure a majestic presence at your pandal.
This is one of my proudest creations, a grand Ganpati idol for a public festival. The procession shows the scale of the celebration and the central role the murti plays, standing tall with a backdrop of Bharat, surrounded by devotees.
The energy of an idol procession is unmatched. Here you can see the Kamathipura cha Mahaganpati, one of my large-scale creations, making its way through the streets of Mumbai, a testament to the city's grand Ganeshotsav spirit.
A close-up view of the divine face of a Ganpati murti I sculpted. The intricate details on the trunk, the expressive eyes, and the golden mukut are all handcrafted to create a powerful and serene presence.

Another perspective of the Kamathipura cha Mahaganpati, focusing on the upper body. You can see the fine details of the crown, the trishul, and the gentle expression on Bappa's face.
The moment a large Ganpati murti, the Chembur cha Gajraj, leaves my karkhana. It's a massive effort involving many devotees, marking the beginning of the idol's journey to its pandal.
About Grand Ganpati Idols for Mandals
Making a large idol for a public pandal requires more than just artistic skill; it demands heavy-duty iron armature work to withstand transport vibrations and a deep understanding of how the murti looks from a distance. I handle everything from the initial clay structure to the final vastralankar, ensuring Bappa looks majestic and divine when he arrives at your pandal.
Building a Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav murti is a massive responsibility that I take personally. In my Lalbaug karkhana, I do not use molds for these grand commissions. Every curve, from the trunk to the blessing mudra, is hand-sculpted. For idols reaching 8ft and above, I use a welded iron skeleton reinforced with jute fiber to ensure the structure remains stable during transport and installation.
The finishing touches make all the difference. I focus heavily on vastralankar—the traditional art of draping fabrics like Paithani or silk directly on the idol. This gives a much more regal, lifelike look compared to painted clothes. I also take care of the Ankhni (eye painting) myself, ensuring the expression is serene and welcoming for devotees.
The Process & Logistics
Because these are handmade, I only take on a limited number of commissions each season to maintain quality. If your mandal has specific requirements, like a unique posture or theme, it is best to discuss the design well before the festival. I also coordinate with your transport team to ensure the murti reaches the pandal safely. Whether it is a traditional look or a specific theme, let's talk about bringing your vision for Bappa to life.
