Finding Your Stride in the Run Girl Era
Running shouldn't feel like a chore. It is my way of reconnecting with myself, one step at a time. Let me help you find the rhythm that actually works for your body.
I'm in my run girl era, and it feels like living a dream. After decades, returning to running feels like a huge accomplishment. Here are some of my insights for anyone starting their own running journey.
A good warm up equals a strong run. Prepping your body and calming your nerves is essential to owning your run and feeling confident.
Not all runs will look the same, and that's okay. The most important thing is that you showed up. Every run tells a different story.
Don't chase the pace. Run to feel alive. The goal is to show up consistently, gently, and fully. Enjoy the process.
Act like a pro runner and hydrate, kittens! Hydration isn't optional; it's your secret weapon for both pre and post run recovery.
About this collection
I see so many beginners jump straight into a run without prepping their joints. Before you hit the pavement, take five minutes to mobilize your hips and ankles. It changes everything for your confidence and comfort on the road.
Building Your Run Girl Era
Returning to running after years away taught me that the biggest barrier isn't physical stamina. It is the mental pressure to hit a certain pace or distance. When I started my journey, I had to unlearn the idea that running needed to look a certain way to be valid.
Why the Warm-Up Matters
Most runners treat the warm-up as an optional step. For me, it is the non-negotiable foundation. Prepping your body and calming your nervous system before you run ensures you are moving with intent rather than just burning through energy. Think of it as signalling to your body that it is time to perform.
Hydration is Your Secret Weapon
I cannot stress this enough—hydrate, kittens. Hydration is not just about drinking water when you are thirsty. It is about maintaining your electrolyte balance pre and post-run so your muscles can recover effectively. If you are training in the Bengaluru heat, this becomes even more critical for your endurance.
Focus on Consistency, Not Speed
Stop chasing the pace. The goal is to show up consistently, gently, and fully. Whether you are running a 1km loop in Domlur or training for an event, every run tells a different story. If you feel discouraged, remember that progress is not linear. Some days will be fast, some will be slow, and all of them are a win because you showed up for yourself.
