Our Design Studio: Philosophy, Process, and Recognition
Architecture is not just about the final structure; it is about the conversation, the collaboration, and the questions we ask along the way. This is a look into our studio culture and the design journey that defines our practice.
We opened our studio to India Design ID and Kohler for their "In Studio" series. In this video, our partners and team members discuss our design philosophy, our collaborative work culture, and what makes our studio a space for serious creativity.
We are honored to be included in the prestigious AD100 list for 2025 by Architectural Digest India. This recognition is a testament to our entire team's dedication to pushing the boundaries of contemporary Indian architecture.
Our principal architect, Sujit Nair, speaking on a panel at the FOAID (Festival of Architecture and Interior Designing) conference. We believe in actively participating in academic discourse and sharing our ideas with the design community.
A wider view of the "Design Manthan" stage at FOAID. Engaging in conversations like these is crucial for the evolution of our practice and the architectural industry as a whole.
The panel discussion at FOAID, where our work was presented alongside that of our talented peers. These events are a great platform for exchanging ideas and discussing the future of design.
A short video documenting the journey of creating our own studio, from construction to housewarming. Designing one's own office is a unique challenge, and this space is a reflection of our values and creative pursuits.
About Our Studio & Recognition
Designing our own office, '113', was perhaps our most challenging commission. It forced us to confront our own biases and redefine what a creative workspace should be. We moved away from rigid hierarchies, opting for an open-plan environment that encourages fluid communication between architects, engineers, and clients. Whether we are discussing a structural cantilever or a material palette, this space is where that dialogue takes shape.
Our practice is built on the belief that every site possesses a hidden latency, a potential that we must uncover through careful, context-sensitive design. We treat each project as a unique narrative that informs the planning, materiality, and structural logic of the building. This requires a departure from standard architectural templates.
A Collaborative Methodology
We do not view architecture, landscape, and interiors as separate disciplines. They are components of a single canvas. Our team in Bengaluru, led by Sujit Nair and Aruna, operates as a collective where the goal is to create spaces that are functionally versatile yet emotionally resonant. Our open studio culture in Kasturi Nagar ensures that the knowledge exchange between designers, structural engineers, and material specialists is constant.
Recognition and Academic Engagement
Recognition by the AD100 2025 list reflects our team's dedication to pushing the boundaries of contemporary Indian architecture. However, we place equal value on our participation in academic forums like the Festival of Architecture and Interior Designing (FOAID). Engaging in these conversations allows us to share our design philosophy and learn from the broader architectural community. For us, success is measured by the clarity of the design logic and the meaningful impact our buildings have on their users and surroundings, whether it is a private residence, a workplace, or a public institution.
