Custom Home Dens, Gyms, and Specialty Spaces
Your home should be more than just rooms—it should be a collection of the passions that drive you. Whether it is a high-energy home gym or a moody den for your collections, I design spaces that turn your interests into your daily reality.
Welcome to the den, the bar, the TV lounge, and the boss lady's favorite spot. The highlight is the trio of bull sculptures, a tribute to the clients' profession in the financial markets and a symbol of their optimism.
The den, a collector's haven. This space features a comfortable leather sofa, an Eames lounge chair, and shelving to display the client's favorite vinyls, cigars, and malts, all set against a moody, textured grey wall.
This is the first 800 sq ft home mandir I designed, located in the Samudra Mahal penthouse. The space is filled with flowers and offerings for a Chappan Bhog ceremony, showing how a spiritual space can be both grand and deeply personal.
A throwback to a private spa I designed in Bangalore, based on the elements of life. These images show the stunning, custom glass light installations that were created to represent wind, water, earth, and fire.
A full tour of the Ironman's home gym, showcasing the custom storage for all his gear and the inspirational display of his race medals.
A view into the den, where the bull sculptures serve as a focal point. The space is designed as a hideout, with a small bar and comfortable seating.
A close-up of the den's shelving unit, curated with the client's collection of fine whiskeys, books, and personal memorabilia.
The comfortable tan leather sofa and tufted blue ottoman create an inviting atmosphere in the den, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sea view.
The den at sunset, showing how the moody lighting and rich textures create a warm and intimate ambiance. The iconic "Godfather" artwork adds to the room's character.
A video showing the installation of the bull sculptures in the den. It captures the process of placing these gorgeous art pieces that add so much character to the space.
About Specialty Spaces: Home Gyms, Dens & More
Before we even consider the aesthetic, I focus on the hard reality of these rooms. For a home gym, that means calculating floor load-bearing capacities for heavy weights and planning the right acoustics so your music doesn't bleed into the rest of the house. When we design a den or a bar, I don't just look at the cabinetry; I analyze how you will use the space at different times of the day, ensuring the lighting transitions from morning coffee sessions to late-night wind-downs seamlessly.
I believe that a house only becomes a home when it reflects your story. Too often, specialty spaces are afterthoughts—a spare room stuffed with gym equipment or a shelf cluttered with books. My goal is to make these areas the highlights of your home.
Designing with Purpose
When I work on a space like a 'man cave' or a home gym, I start with how you live. For Nalin's gym, for instance, we didn't just place equipment. We created dedicated, organized zones for each discipline—swim, bike, and run—and displayed his race medals and bibs as a wall of inspiration. It turns a workout zone into a temple for discipline.
Similarly, with home dens or private bars, I focus on the atmosphere. In one project, we installed metallic bull sculptures because the clients work in the financial markets. It was a nod to their profession and a piece of lucky energy for their home. It is these details that move a design from 'nice to look at' to 'meaningful to live in'.
The Practical Side of Passion
Whether you need humidity-controlled storage for a cigar collection, soundproofing for an entertainment den, or specialized lighting for a mandir, the technical planning is what keeps the dream alive. I handle the AutoCAD layouts, the electrical points for your sound systems, and the structural planning for built-in storage. My team and I take care of the heavy lifting so that the only thing you have to focus on is enjoying your new space.
If you have a collection, a hobby, or a specific way you like to unwind, let's talk about how to bring that into your floor plan. You don't have to fit your life into a generic room; we can build a room that fits your life perfectly.
