Creative Kids' & Teen Room Designs
From safety-focused nurseries to cool, functional dens for teens, I design spaces that evolve as they grow. Let's make their room their favorite place to be.
Welcome to the 1000 sq ft "Blue Room," designed for a 22-year-old who loves "kidulting." The space is divided into zones for sleeping, chilling with a massive TV, and a library complete with a polar bear and a wall for his travel magnet collection.
This room for two sisters is all about smart, space-saving design. It features parallel beds, collapsible desks that tuck away, and a hidden door leading to a beautiful pink and printed bathroom, maximizing floor space for play.
The client brief was "I want a black room," a common request from teenagers. My solution was to use black smartly, pairing a large platform bed and a grey stucco curved wall for his TV and Playstation with a bright study area near the window.

A teenage girl's dream dresser. This "Wake up and make up" corner features a large mirror with green room bulbs and ample illuminated shelving to display all her favorite things, from makeup to mini bags.

The large, low-platform bed in the teen's room is perfect for chilling with friends. The under-bed lighting adds a moody, modern touch to the space.

The arched wardrobe doors with cane webbing in the nursery add a touch of warmth and natural texture, balancing the cool blue tones of the room.
About Creative Kids' & Teen Rooms
I do not believe in designing rooms that look like a catalog. For nurseries, I use nano-coated fabrics on padded walls to handle inevitable spills and scrapes, while for teens, I focus on multi-functional layouts like collapsible desks and platform beds that shift from study zones to hangouts. It is about building spaces that handle the chaos of growing up while staying stylish.
Designing for the younger members of the family is where my 'kidulting' philosophy really comes to life. Whether it is a 4-year-old's room where I sketch the layout right on the walls during a site visit, or a moody, dark-themed den for a teenager, the goal is always the same: a room that feels like their own.
Nurseries That Make Sense
When I designed Rockstar Remy's room, safety wasn't just a checkbox, it was the foundation. I used midnight blue padded walls with nano-coating to prevent stains, paired with soft wooden floors and a custom cot. The idea is to create a dreamy, fairy-tale vibe that is actually easy to maintain. We add whimsical touches like cloud-shaped ceiling lights, but behind the scenes, every piece of furniture, from the chest of drawers to the shelving, is planned to hold the mountain of things a baby requires.
Dens for Teens
Teenagers are tricky. They want space to game, chill, and study, but they also want privacy. I recently handled a request for a 'black room' for an 18-year-old, which we executed by using a massive platform bed for lounging and a curved grey stucco wall for his gaming setup. We used black in the details and texture rather than just painting everything dark, keeping the space airy.
Growing With Them
I love shared rooms for siblings. For a client with two daughters, I designed parallel beds with pull-out desks that tuck away completely. It frees up the floor space for play when they need it, and everything stays organized when they are done. My process involves a lot of on-site visualization, sketching directly on the plaster to ensure the scale is perfect for the room. If it is a nursery, a teen study, or a kidult's bedroom, I make sure the design supports how they actually live, not just how they look.
