My Interior Design Process and Philosophy
Design is more than a layout to me. It is a story waiting to be told. See how I transform your vision into a home from the first sketch to the final handover.
A video where I explain my design philosophy. For me, it's not just about walls and furniture; it's about the story a space holds. Every project is someone's story waiting to be told, and my goal is to create something that feels like you.
Great design isn’t made with tools; it’s made with empathy. This is my core belief. It starts by asking, "Who is this for? And how will they feel here?"
A video of me sketching in my happy place. I find the process therapeutic, and it's where ideas begin to take shape before they are translated into technical drawings.
Sometimes, an idea starts with a simple scribble. This video shows me getting hands-on with my team to install a custom neon light, turning a quick sketch into a fun, curvy wall feature for a teenager's bathroom.
A sneak peek of our 5-story Chembur home project. This video shows the journey from a site under construction to the design phase, illustrating the scale and complexity of crafting luxury one story at a time.
Behind the scenes at a photo shoot for Rohin Puri's home. It shows the final styling touches, from arranging towels to lighting candles, that bring a project to life for the camera.
A portrait of me, Sonal Bhatia. At my studio, we don’t just create beautiful spaces; we craft experiences that reflect individuality, innovation, and intention.
Another portrait. My passion is to design differently, to go beyond trends and create spaces with heart and strategy.
A smiling shot of me in my element. This is more than my profession; it's my passion.
A look at a wall texture in progress. This shows the excitement and nervousness as we get closer to handover, creating interesting dialogues with organic surfaces and finishes.
About My Design Process & Philosophy
I might start by sketching directly onto your walls during our first meeting. It helps me translate your vision into a real space before we ever pick up a drill. I believe that being on-site is non-negotiable, so expect to see me there often, guiding my team and ensuring the final result feels like a home, not a catalog page.
My approach is built on empathy and a bit of nerve. After 25 years in the industry, I have learned that you cannot treat a home like a template. Whether I am managing a 5-story residence in Chembur or a small apartment renovation in Bandra, the process remains the same. It starts with a conversation about how you actually live. We move from these deep chats to quick sketches and then to detailed AutoCAD planning for things like smart storage and electrical layouts. I handle the civil work and the finishing touches because I want to ensure the final product matches the initial idea. My philosophy is simple. If you are hiring a professional, trust the process. Just as you would trust a doctor with your health, you have to let me guide the design to make sure it works for your space, light, and scale. We do not just follow trends. We solve problems. We find clever ways to fit shoe closets for hundreds of pairs, hide unsightly electrical points, or create multi-functional zones that work for you. Every decision I make is about making your daily life smoother and more beautiful.
