Our Interior Design Process: From Sketches to Finished Spaces
Design is a hands-on journey. See how we move from initial sketches to site supervision, ensuring every detail reflects your personality and functional needs.
This video gives a little insight into the many hats an interior designer wears. From selecting fabrics and negotiating with vendors to overseeing work on-site, my role is to manage every detail to turn a client's dream into reality.
Some days are spent at my desk, surrounded by material samples and design books. This is where I strategize and develop the core concepts for a project, ensuring every element works together in harmony.
A candid shot of me in work mode. Loving what you do means that even a desk full of paperwork and samples feels like a creative playground.
Another glimpse of my workspace, where I'm deeply focused on reviewing material options. The selection process is critical for achieving the right texture, color, and quality for each project.
Ideating and strategizing at my desk is a fundamental part of my process. It's during these quiet moments of focus that the vision for a space really starts to take shape.
A typical workday involves diving deep into material catalogues and drawings. This is the detailed work that ensures every project is thoughtfully planned and executed.
Collaboration is key. Here I am with my team, discussing material options and plans. I believe the best ideas come from teamwork and open discussion.
Working closely with a team member to finalize selections. Every project is a partnership, and I value the input and expertise of everyone involved in the process.
A quick look at my team in action. We believe that great design is a result of collective effort, where everyone's ideas are discussed and integrated to achieve the best outcome.
Here's a behind-the-scenes look at me working on an upcoming project. The creative process is often hands-on, involving laying out samples and drawings to get a real feel for how the space will come together.
About The Design Process: From Sketch to Reality
Choosing the right finish is rarely about what looks good in a showroom; it is about seeing how that fabric or stone sits in your specific light. We spend hours at quarries and vendor workshops because your home deserves materials that feel right, not just look premium.
Great design does not happen by accident; it happens through iteration. Whether we are transforming a heritage structure like the Parsi Dairy Farm or executing a modern residence in Crescent Bay, our process remains grounded in constant communication.
The Conceptual Phase
Every project starts with sketches and mood boards. We sit down to understand how you live, what you need stored, and how you want your space to feel. This is where we define the floor plates and zoning, focusing on clever details like concealed storage or multifunctional furniture to make every square foot in Mumbai count.
Material Selection
This is the most critical phase. We do not rely on digital swatches alone. You will find us visiting fabric suppliers to touch the textures and driving out to quarries to personally select marble slabs. We look for patterns, durability, and how the material reacts to natural and artificial light. It is a time-intensive process, but it ensures that the final result is authentic.
Site Supervision
Design drawings are only as good as their execution. My team and I are physically present on-site—from the Oberoi Enigma project to our work in Parel—to make real-time decisions. We work directly with the craftspeople to solve structural challenges, verify joinery details, and ensure the lighting is layered correctly. This is the bridge between a good 3D render and a livable, beautiful space.
