Learn Pranayama and Breathwork in Bengaluru
Your breath is your most powerful tool to calm the mind and energize the body. Learn foundational breathing techniques with one-on-one guidance tailored to your pace.
Are you breathing correctly? This video explains the basics of deep abdominal breathing, where the belly expands on the inhale and contracts on the exhale. This simple shift can dramatically improve your physical and mental well being.
Let's learn Full Yogic Breathing, a technique that uses the full capacity of your lungs. I guide you through breathing into the abdomen, then the chest, and finally the clavicular region for a complete, rejuvenating breath.
Here is a breakdown of Anuloma Viloma in four progressive phases. You can start with simple alternate nostril breathing and gradually add counts and breath retention (kumbhaka) as you become more comfortable.
Pranayama, or breathwork, is the heart of our practice. In this tutorial, I guide you through Anuloma Viloma, or alternate nostril breathing, a technique to calm the nervous system. I explain the hand mudra and the breathing ratio to help you get started.
Kapalbhati, or the "skull shining breath," is a powerful cleansing exercise. This tutorial demonstrates the technique of forceful exhalations and passive inhalations, along with important contraindications to be aware of before you practice.
About this collection
Most of us breathe shallow, using only the top of our lungs, which keeps our nervous system in a constant state of low-level stress. I don't just teach you the mechanics of Anuloma Viloma or Kapalbhati; we focus on why we are doing it—to switch your body from fight-or-flight mode to rest-and-digest. We will start by checking your current breathing patterns, and then build your practice so it feels sustainable, not like another chore on your to-do list.
Pranayama is the foundation of every practice I guide. It is not about forcing your breath, but inviting it to move freely. Whether you are dealing with chronic stress from a corporate job or just want to feel more present, these techniques are my go-to tools.
Why we start with the breath
In my 1-on-1 sessions, we do not jump into complex poses. We start here. When you learn to expand your abdomen on the inhale and contract on the exhale—the way we naturally did as children—you allow your diaphragm to fully engage. This simple shift is the quickest way to lower your cortisol levels and improve mental clarity.
The techniques I teach:
- Full Yogic Breathing: We expand into the abdomen, chest, and clavicular region to maximize lung capacity. It is a full-body reboot that helps when you feel overwhelmed.
- Anuloma Viloma (Alternate Nostril Breathing): This is essential for balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain. I teach this in progressive phases, starting with simple breathing and eventually adding retention (kumbhaka) when your body is ready.
- Kapalbhati: A powerful cleansing breath. We focus on the forceful exhalation while keeping the face and shoulders relaxed. It is excellent for energy, but I always make sure you understand the contraindications, such as avoiding it during pregnancy or if you have high blood pressure.
How to get started with me in Bengaluru
My approach is entirely personalized. In our initial 15-minute consultation, we assess your comfort level. If you are a complete beginner, we will not rush into retention. If you have specific health concerns, we adapt the pace. We can work together at your home or via video call, focusing on building a routine that you can actually maintain on your own. Let us stop pushing and start breathing.
