About Online Masterclasses & Workshops
These are not generic video tutorials. In my 1-on-1 masterclasses, we focus on the intricate tone production of the Delhi Gharana, using high-fidelity audio so I can hear every nuance of your Nikash—the precise touch of your fingers on the syahi and kinar—in real-time, just as if you were sitting right here with me.

Music knows no borders, and neither does the Guru-Shishya parampara. Even though we connect via Zoom or Google Meet, my aim is to maintain the sanctity of the Delhi Gharana. Whether you are in Kolkata, California, or anywhere else, my goal is to guide you through this spiritual journey—or Sadhana—of playing the tabla.
What We Focus On
My teaching breaks down the complex mathematics of rhythm into practical learning. We start with the basics of finger placement to ensure clarity in every sound. From there, we move into:
- Delhi Gharana Technique: The specific finger movements that define our school, focusing on the clarity of your bols.
- Rhythm Science: Understanding the mathematical calculations behind talas and layakari.
- Solo & Accompaniment: How to play with confidence, whether you are accompanying a vocalist, a dancer, or performing a solo recital.
- Practice Routines: I provide immediate feedback on your riyaz, helping you correct posture and hand positions instantly.
Customization for Your Level
I design every session to fit the student. If you are a beginner, we start with the origin of the tabla and basic counting. If you are a professional, we dive into rare taals and advanced rhythmic improvisations. These sessions are scheduled to accommodate different time zones, ensuring that distance is never a barrier to your progress. Bachhon ko sikhana mera passion hai (Teaching kids is my passion), and I find equal joy in teaching young learners and seasoned professionals alike.
