About Artisan Blouses & Blouse Pieces
My approach to blouse design centers on the finish. For every Kasuti pattern, I ensure the stitches are as clean on the reverse side as they are on the front. This attention to detail is not just about aesthetics, but about the discipline of traditional embroidery, ensuring each garment feels substantial and crafted rather than mass-produced.
At Sameeksha, I design blouses to be long-lasting staples rather than seasonal trends. Whether you are looking for ready-to-wear pieces or unstitched fabric cuts, my collection focuses on merging heritage needlework with modern tailoring.
The Craft Behind the Stitch
My blouse collection primarily showcases Kasuti, a traditional counted-thread embroidery from Karnataka. Unlike machine embroidery, Kasuti requires precise, manual counting of threads, which creates geometric patterns like Gopuras and chariots. I also incorporate Negi, a weaving stitch, and occasional mirror work to add depth and texture.
Fabrics and Fit
I choose fabrics that breathe and drape well. You will find my designs on:
- Pure Handloom Cotton & Mangalgiri: Ideal for corporate or daily wear where comfort is paramount.
- Silk Blends & Raw Silk: Selected for festive occasions, often featuring heavier Zardosi or intricate Kasuti detailing on necklines.
Most of my ready-to-wear blouses are designed with alteration margins, ensuring that you can get a fit that feels personalized to you. If you opt for an unstitched piece, I provide a one-meter cut with the necklines pre-embroidered, allowing you to tailor the blouse to your specific measurements and preferred neck style.
Customization
I believe in slow fashion. If you have a specific color palette or a favorite saree you want to pair with a new blouse, I am happy to guide you on motifs that will complement your existing wardrobe. My goal is to create a piece that feels like it belongs to you, not just to the market.
