The Art of the Blouse: Custom Embroidery Designs
A statement blouse transforms the simplest saree into something memorable. I specialize in intricate, hand-embroidered designs tailored specifically to your measurements and style.

This is a detailed look at a hand-embroidered motif inspired by Banarasi weaving. The combination of gold and red thread with sequins creates a rich, three-dimensional texture on the fabric.
The back of a blouse is a canvas for creativity. This design features a unique keyhole back, framed by colorful floral embroidery on a rich brown raw silk fabric.

About this collection
Many clients worry that a heavily embroidered blouse will feel stiff or dig into their shoulders during a long event. I address this by using premium lining, typically butter-crepe or satin, and ensuring we do two rounds of fit trials at my studio. We check the padding and the dori tie-ups to make sure the blouse stays perfectly in place while you move, ensuring you feel comfortable from the ceremony right through to the dance floor.
Designing Your Perfect Blouse
The back of a blouse is just as important as the front. It is a canvas for your personality, whether you prefer a classic deep neckline, a creative keyhole, or a dramatic open-back with handmade latkans. When we sit down to design, I look at the balance between the embroidery and the fabric.
Embroidery & Technique
I work heavily with zardozi, aari, and threadwork. If you choose a raw silk or velvet base, these heavy fabrics hold zardozi work beautifully. I often suggest sequins and beads to catch the light, especially for sangeet or evening events. If you are leaning towards a lighter look, we can focus on delicate threadwork on breezy organza or georgette.
Our Process
- Consultation: We discuss your saree or lehenga first. The blouse must complement, not overwhelm, the rest of your outfit.
- Sketching: I sketch the necklines and back designs based on your comfort level.
- Trials: As I mentioned, the fit is non-negotiable. We meet at my HSR Layout studio for a raw fit, where we pin the structure, and then a final trial to ensure the padding and closures are flawless.
Fabrics We Love
- Velvet: Perfect for weddings and winter events; it provides a royal structure.
- Raw Silk: A timeless choice that works with almost any style of embroidery.
- Organza: Ideal for fusion sets or lighter, modern looks.
Whether you need a heavy bridal piece or a stylish, contemporary blouse for a cocktail party, my focus is on making it uniquely yours.
