Hand-Embroidered Heritage Sarees and Art by Sameeksha
A collection of our finest hand-embroidered pieces, from reversible sarees to intricate hoop art. Every stitch here is a story, preserving traditional crafts like Kasuti and Negi for the modern home.
This is my special "Flip Saree," a piece that holds two stories in one. One side features the exotic Negi embroidery of Karnataka, while the other reveals delicate nail block printing paired with Kasuti, all on a beautiful desi tussar fabric. It’s a celebration of multiple crafts in a single, reversible heirloom.
Here is a closer look at a heavily embroidered ombre Tussar silk saree. The dense floral patterns are stitched with immense care by my skilled artisans, creating a piece that is both a garment and a canvas of our rich textile traditions.
I believe learning a hand skill like embroidery is meditative and deeply rewarding. It connects us to our imagination and our heritage. Here, I share my thoughts on why it is so important to pass this beautiful craft, this memory, to the next generation.
This ready-to-wear mustard yellow cotton blouse features traditional Kasuti embroidery. The motifs are carefully placed to create a design that is both classic and easy to wear, perfect for adding a touch of handcrafted elegance to your wardrobe.
Even the smallest items can carry great beauty. I am holding a hand-embroidered bookmark with a vibrant Kasuti pattern. These small treasures are a wonderful way to bring a piece of art into your daily life.
The border of this vibrant Kanjeevaram silk saree is adorned with Kamal Kadai embroidery. This stitch, known for its woven floral effect, brings a unique texture and dimension to the pure silk, blending tradition with luxurious color.
The quiet focus of a workshop is where the magic happens. This is a glimpse into a Kasuti class, where each student learns to count the threads and create patterns that are perfect on both sides of the fabric, a hallmark of this beautiful craft.
This piece of hoop art is a sampler of freestyle embroidery, filled with different stitches, colors, and floral forms. Creating these pieces is a deeply satisfying process, turning a simple needle and thread into a captivating piece of wall art.
About Featured
When you look closely at our Kasuti work, you will not find a single knot. We follow the traditional method where the embroidery looks identical on both the front and the back of the fabric, ensuring a finish that is as beautiful inside as it is out.
At our Koramangala studio, embroidery is more than just decoration; it is a discipline. Whether it is a reversible 'Flip Saree'—where you can alternate between delicate Negi embroidery and block-printed Kasuti—or a simple custom bookmark, the focus remains on the integrity of the needlework.
Why Technique Matters
We work primarily with 25+ styles, including Kantha, Sashiko, and traditional Kasuti. My approach is to ensure that the fabric’s breathability is never compromised by the thread work. For our sarees, we use pure silk, tussar, and lightweight cottons. By using heritage stitches, we add weight and texture where it creates flow, rather than just covering fabric in excess embroidery.
From Commission to Heirloom
Every piece in this collection has a defined intention.
- Sarees: We focus on moderate density, often placing heavy work on the pallu while leaving the body light and comfortable for day wear.
- Hoop Art: These serve as tactile reminders of the craft, perfect for home décor, showcasing freestyle embroidery techniques.
- Custom Requests: If you have an old garment that needs new life, we can rejuvenate it with needlework, ensuring the design respects the original fabric.
Whether you are looking to learn the craft in our workshops or commission a piece that tells your specific story, I am here to guide you. We do not mass-produce; we create pieces meant to be passed down.

I’m Sujaya Mahesh. For me, embroidery is a way to keep family memories alive, one stitch at a time. I pour that intention into every piece I create, teaching others to find that same sense of quiet focus and joy.
