Technical Sparring and Kickboxing Drills in Bengaluru
I treat fighting like a game of chess. See how we use controlled sparring and specific drills to master strategy, timing, and defense right here in HSR Layout and Hosa Road.
Fighting is a chess match. This video shows a technical sparring session where students practice their timing, defense, and counter attacks in a controlled and safe environment.
This is a light sparring drill at our HSR Layout gym. The goal here is not to hurt each other, but to practice applying techniques against a moving partner.
It's not about how hard you hit, but how you keep moving forward. This sparring session shows students practicing their defense and composure under pressure.
This week's technique was a jab, cross, and roundhouse kick combination. Here, we are drilling the combo and the proper way to defend against the kick with a block called a 'check'.
You can only fight the way you practice. This photo captures a mid range boxing drill on a rooftop, focusing on landing a straight punch while maintaining distance.
This is a midrange drill I use to help beginners get over the fear of getting hit. We use the 'Philly Shell' defense and focus on technique and reflexes.
Counter attacks are a key part of our strategy. This image is from a video where I break down how to counter a punch with a high kick.
Our training covers various aspects of MMA. This clip shows students practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) grappling, along with some boxing drills.
About Technical Sparring & Drills
You don't need to be a fighter to start these drills. We focus on Philly Shell defense and Dutch kickboxing, which means we work on reflexes and distance management instead of just swinging wild. Most beginners are nervous about getting hit, so we start with controlled pad work and light sparring to build your confidence before we increase the intensity.
Fighting is strategy. When you step into my gym in HSR Layout or E-City, the goal isn't to walk out with a black eye. It is to learn how to keep moving, defend yourself, and make smart decisions when the pressure is on.
Why we focus on technical drills:
- Defense First: We teach the Philly Shell defense. It is about minimizing damage while staying close enough to counter. You will learn how to shoulder roll and parry rather than just blocking blindly.
- Controlled Sparring: Beginners often worry about the fight part of sparring. We change that. My sparring sessions are supervised and technical. It is a dialogue, not a brawl. You will practice your jab-cross combinations and kicks in a safe environment, at a pace that lets you think.
- Video Analysis: For my one-on-one students, I often use video feedback. Watching yourself move is the fastest way to fix micro-errors in your stance or footwork.
What to expect: Whether you are training for competition or just want to get fit, the curriculum stays consistent. We use Dutch Kickboxing techniques, which emphasize fluid combinations and powerful low kicks. If you have never done this before, gothilla (don't know) is not an excuse. We meet you where you are, from the age of 4 upwards. Bring your mouthguard, bring a positive attitude, and we will handle the rest.
