A glimpse into my musical world, from the quiet focus of riyaz to the energy of a live stage. These portraits capture the person behind the rhythm.

A favorite portrait of mine, surrounded by tablas in my practice space. The joy of being a musician is a constant in my life.

A candid shot during a photoshoot. I believe that what you make of your life is up to you, and I choose to make music.

Another take from the same photoshoot, with a warm and happy feel. The bokeh lights add a touch of magic.

A thoughtful moment captured during a photoshoot. My musical journey is also a spiritual and philosophical one.

A portrait with a warm, golden light. I am always looking up, grateful for the opportunities and the path I am on.

This is a candid portrait that I feel reflects my optimistic outlook on life and art.

A close up portrait. The journey of an artist is filled with moments of reflection and inspiration.

A pensive portrait with my tabla. I am always thinking about rhythm and capturing the beauty of life, one beat at a time.

A slightly different angle from the same series, reflecting the contemplative side of being a classical musician.

This portrait, with its dark background, highlights the deep connection between the artist and his instrument.

About Artist Portraits

When you book me for your next concert, you are bringing in a disciplined approach to rhythm. Whether we are in an intimate baithak or a large auditorium, I focus on listening first to provide accompaniment that supports the main artist without overpowering them. These portraits reflect the same concentration and respect I bring to every stage.

My journey began with the Faroukhabad Gharana, rooted in the teachings of my father, Pandit Rajgopal Kallurkar. This foundation guides how I approach every performance. When I step on stage, my goal is to create a seamless dialogue with the vocalist or instrumentalist. I am equally comfortable with the precision of Hindustani classical, the complex time signatures of Carnatic fusion, or the emotive storytelling of a Bhavageete evening. My performances are backed by an AIR B-High grade standard, ensuring professional quality sound and rhythm. I bring my own professional-grade tabla sets, tuned to your specific scale, and I always arrive an hour early to ensure the acoustic balance is perfect. If you are planning a private gathering or a large-scale event, I bring that same dedication to ensure the music flows naturally.

I am Roopak. Tabla is my mother tongue, taught by my guru and father, Pandit Rajgopal Kallurkar. Every concert is a fresh conversation for me, and I love creating something new with every artist I perform alongside.
