Meditative Flow & Flexibility Yoga Practice
Yoga is not about perfecting poses, but about finding presence. Through Hatha Vinyasa and guided breathwork, we turn physical practice into a moving meditation that calms the mind.
This sequence showcases deep flexibility and focus, moving from an arm balance to Eka Pada Sirsasana (leg-behind-head pose) and a deep forward fold. Each movement is deliberate and connected to the breath.
"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self." This black and white video captures the introspective quality of the practice, moving through a flow that is both physically engaging and deeply meditative.
About The Meditative Flow & Flexibility
In these sessions, we focus on the transition between poses rather than just holding them. Whether you are working toward your first arm balance or deepening your forward fold, we use the breath as an anchor to move safely, ensuring you are not just stretching muscles but training your mind to stay steady amidst effort.
True flexibility is born from consistency, or what we call 'abhyas'—the steady, unwavering practice of showing up. My approach to Hatha Vinyasa is designed to help you build this foundation. We do not force the body into shapes; instead, we listen to where it is today. By syncing each movement to your breath (pranayama), we quiet the mental chatter, allowing the body to open up naturally.
Why focus on Flow?
Movement is medicine. When you link postures into a continuous flow, you develop strength, balance, and endurance that holds steady even off the mat. This practice helps to release physical tension that often masks deeper emotional stress. My sessions cater to all levels, from those just starting to those looking to refine advanced postures like arm balances or backbends.
Practice with Intent
Whether you join my one-day urban workshops in Bandra and Juhu or travel with me for a residential retreat in the Maharashtra hills, the goal remains the same: self-acceptance over perfection. We treat the mat as a mirror. If you find your mind wandering or your breath becoming shallow, that is the moment the real work begins. We practice to become a light unto ourselves, or 'appa deepo bhava,' as the gurus have taught us.
What to expect
- Technique Labs: We break down complex movements, ensuring you have the alignment right before deepening the stretch.
- Breath-First Approach: The breath leads the movement. If you can't breathe, you aren't flowing.
- Mindfulness: We incorporate short periods of stillness or meditation to help you carry the calm of the practice back into your daily city life in Mumbai.
Remember, your body is not stiff; often, it is the mind that holds onto resistance. Come with an open mind, and let the practice unfold.
