Art Basics & Creative Tips for Beginners

When you start painting or sketching, it is easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of techniques available. I always tell my students at my studios in Kadubeesanahalli and RR Nagar that you do not need to be a natural-born artist to create beautiful work. You just need to understand the building blocks. In my foundational sessions, we demystify color theory. We look at how colors interact, why using a blue with orange can make an image pop, and how to mix paints without creating mud. It is not just about theory; we apply it immediately to canvas, paper, or fabric.

For drawing, we strip everything back to the basics: how you hold the pencil and how you apply pressure to create light and shadow. This is exactly what gives your sketches dimension.
