Sketching is where every artist begins. Whether you are holding a pencil for the first time or want to refine your shading technique, I will help you turn simple lines into realistic stories.

Here you can see students practicing different techniques. We have pencil shading for a realistic fruit basket, and colour pencil work for landscapes and city scenes.

During our festive workshops, we also practice sketching. Here, students are learning to draw Lord Ganesha using pencil shading techniques to create a 3D effect.

This video shows the variety of skills we learn. One student is practicing pencil shading on a flower vase, while others are using colour pencils to complete their drawings.

A look at some of the amazing results from our workshops. Students proudly display their finished pencil sketches of cupcakes and candles, showing their new shading skills.

A quick look at the different art forms we teach at Art Voyage. This clip shows students working on floral doodles, pencil sketching, and colourful drawings.

About Drawing & Sketching Fundamentals

Sketching is not just about drawing what you see, but learning to notice the light and shadow in everyday objects like fruits and candles. I focus on breaking down complex shapes into simple steps so you feel confident shading your first real-life study without any stress.

When you start with the basics, sketching feels much less intimidating. We begin by understanding the weight of your pencil, the difference between 2B and 6B, and how to layer shading to build depth. It is not about drawing perfectly, but about observing how light hits a flower vase or a candle.

We keep our batches small, with only 4 to 8 students per table, so I can sit with you and help you correct your grip or your shading direction. You do not need to bring any materials as I provide all the paper, pencils, and erasers you need for class. My studio at Kalena Agrahara is a quiet, chill space where we take our time with each project. You will find that once you get the hang of shading, even a simple sketch can look quite realistic..... and that is the real fun of it. Whether you are looking for after-school sessions for your child or a relaxing creative outlet for yourself, we focus on patience and progress over perfection.
