Our Stage Performances and Creative Productions
Beyond our regular dance and music classes, we create stage productions and participate in festivals. Here is a look at our ensemble performances and collaborative projects.
A vibrant performance at the Kanaka Purandara Sangeetha Utsava, where our ensemble presented pieces based on the compositions of the great Haridasas.
Our students performing a Bharatanatyam piece at the Kanaka Purandara festival. The coordinated poses and colorful costumes bring the choreography to life.
A Kathak performance by our students, set to the devotional poetry of Dasa Sahitya.
Another dynamic moment from our ensemble's performance at the Kanaka Purandara Sangeetha Utsava.
The full Rhythmotion ensemble in a final pose during the Kanaka Purandara festival, celebrating the rich heritage of Karnataka's poet-saints.
Two of our dancers performing a Bharatanatyam piece as part of the festival, showcasing the grace and precision of the art form.
An invitation to our Indian Classical & Contemporary Dance Workshop at IIT Jammu. We enjoy sharing our knowledge with students across the country.
About this collection
When we prepare for a stage production like 'Sakhi' or a festival ensemble, it involves more than just steps. We spend weeks on the narrative arc, lighting design, and the subtle expressions, or abhinaya, that ground the piece. If you are looking for a collaborator for a cultural event or want to understand the effort behind our productions, this is the dedication we bring to every movement we create.
Our Artistic Journey
At Rhythmotion, our work extends well beyond the classroom. Whether we are presenting at the Kanaka Purandara Sangeetha Utsava or conducting workshops at institutions like IIT Jammu, our goal is to share the depth of Indian classical dance with wider audiences.
Thematic Productions
We believe dance is a powerful medium for storytelling. Our production 'Sakhi', for instance, uses a movement vocabulary derived from Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and contemporary styles to open conversations about mental health. We do not just perform; we curate experiences that connect with the viewer on an emotional level.
Performing with the Ensemble
Our ensemble performances are where technique meets stagecraft. Whether it is a traditional jugalbandi or a thematic production, the Rhythmotion ensemble focuses on:
- Precision: Maintaining the integrity of Kathak and Bharatanatyam footwork (tatkar and nritta) under stage lights.
- Expression: Using abhinaya to ensure the story translates to the audience, regardless of their familiarity with classical arts.
- Collaboration: Integrating diverse musical elements to support the choreography.
If you are organizing a festival, cultural event, or academic workshop in Bangalore or beyond, we bring the same rigour and artistic focus to our collaborations that we teach in our studio. From concept to execution, we handle the creative direction to ensure a professional and impactful presentation.
Rhythmotion
I am Chitra, and Rhythmotion is my second home. Whether it is our annual showcase or a deep-dive workshop, everything we do is rooted in the tradition I learned from my Guru. I love bringing people together through rhythm and expression, whether it is for a stage performance or a student exam.
