About Semi-Classical & Fusion Dance
Why I Love Mixing Styles
Dance is my way to feel alive - sometimes it’s just about moving, sometimes it’s about finding that inner balance. I grew up with the bols of Kathak, and I love how those rhythms can blend with anything, especially Bollywood. Our classes are all about mixing the grace of classical dance with the fun of popular music. It’s open to everyone, no matter your age or experience.
How You Can Join In
- Hybrid classes: Come to our Bangalore studio or join online, whatever works for you.
- Regular semi-classical batches: These run for a few months, perfect if you want to really get into technique and choreography. My daughter, Alar, often leads these.
- Fusion dance certificate course: Beginner-friendly, three months long, focused on Kathak-Bollywood fusion choreography. No need for any prior training.
- One-day Indian classical dance workshops: Great for trying out a style or just having a fun afternoon. We pick iconic songs and break down the moves.
What We Focus On
- Technique: Footwork, spins, posture - all the nritta basics.
- Expression: Abhinaya, or how you tell a story with your face and body.
- Performance: Most courses end with our showcase, Chalana, where you get to perform on stage.
Beyond Classes
We also create full-scale productions, mixing classical and contemporary styles to talk about real stuff, like mental health. If you’re looking for expressive storytelling through dance, you’ll find it here.

My Story
Namaste, I’m Chitra and Rhythmotion is my second home, maybe my first! Started off learning under Maya didi, pranams to her always. Dance for me is riyaaz, it’s practice in any corner, even my paati’s house. Rhythmotion is family - my amma teaches Carnatic vocal, my daughter Alar dances and teaches too. We mix Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bollywood, all with a lot of joy. Here, dance feels like home, not just a class.
