About Carnatic Vocal Music Classes
Why I Teach Carnatic Vocal
Music is my way to stay balanced and happy. For me, Carnatic music is not just about singing - it's about connecting with tradition and finding a bit of joy in every note. If you want to pick up a new skill or just feel good creating something beautiful, this is the space.
Who Can Join
Doesn’t matter if you’re a kid, an adult, or somewhere in between. No need for a perfect voice or any previous training. I welcome everyone - total newbies, those who’ve sung for years, and anyone curious about Carnatic music for beginners. We learn together, no judgment.
What We Do in Class
I teach South Indian classical vocal lessons, starting with Shruthi and Laya training. That’s the base. As you get comfortable, we move to shlokas, bhajans, keerthanas, kritis, and even Devaranama learning sessions (Kannada devotional songs). You’ll get a mix of tradition and variety.
How Classes Work
You can join in-person at my Bangalore studio or go for online Carnatic singing classes. I offer one-on-one sessions if you want personal attention, or group classes if you like learning with others. Classes happen on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Performance Opportunities
Singing is best when shared. I encourage students to perform at our annual showcase, 'Chalana', and other events. You’ll get to be on stage with fellow musicians and dancers, building confidence and having fun.

My Story
Namaste, I’m Chitra and Rhythmotion is my second home, maybe my first! Started off learning under Maya didi, pranams to her always. Dance for me is riyaaz, it’s practice in any corner, even my paati’s house. Rhythmotion is family - my amma teaches Carnatic vocal, my daughter Alar dances and teaches too. We mix Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bollywood, all with a lot of joy. Here, dance feels like home, not just a class.
My Work
What we teach - Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Semiclassical, Kathak-Bollywood fusion classes, Carnatic vocal, body conditioning, and choreography.
Who can join - Anyone! No age or gender limit. Classes in Bangalore or online, beginners to advanced all welcome.
Dance and wellness - Our body conditioning for dancers uses yoga, pilates, kalaripayattu. We focus on mind and body wellness.
Fun with tradition - We blend classical roots with Bollywood fun. Our fusion classes bring both grace and energy to the floor.
Performances - Students perform at events and our annual showcase, 'Chalana' - a real highlight for everyone.
