My Dance Journey
I went from desk job to desi dance floor - IIT degree in the bag, but my heart always did a little garba even at work. Samjhana mushkil tha (explaining was tough), but I followed my passion instead. For me, dance isn’t about being perfect, it’s that jhatka (jolt) of joy when the music hits. That’s what I bring to every class - energy, fun, and all-out Bollywood vibes.
What We Dance
We get filmy, expressive, and sometimes a bit folk - all in one place.
- Bollywood choreography workshop style: Old-school 90s nostalgia to latest trending tracks, we groove to everything.
- Semi-classical dance routines: Elegant moves, soulful tracks, graceful expressions.
- A hint of folk and fusion: Rajasthani, Punjabi, Marathi, and a little Bollyhop - I love mixing it up.
How It Works
- Online Bollywood dance class every month - weekly sessions, 3-4 choreographies, steady progress and lots of laughs.
- One-song workshops online and in-person (Bangalore sometimes) - perfect for prepping that sangeet dance or just vibing with a favorite song.
Who’s It For?
Beginners, casual dancers, wedding peeps - all are welcome. I break steps down, keep it light, and make sure you leave smiling.
Where We Groove
Mostly online (IST timings), but I do pop-up in Bangalore studios every now and then. Classes are all about community, connection, and having fun, not just technique.

My Story
Hey, I’m Aakanksha, and I’m the person behind dance_with_specs. IIT grad, but honestly, my real degree is in loving dance. Burnout hit me hard, so I ditched the job and went full-on into dancing. Garba is my jam – can’t wait for Navratri every year! My specs are part of my style, and I just teach and dance the way I am, no filters. Family and friends got me through, now I’m all about sharing that joy.

Garba Workshops - Beginner Garba techniques, simple choreography, and we end up dancing together. Always a blast!
