Building the Foundation: Kickboxing & MMA Core Drills
Master the fundamentals of combat sports. From proper stance to defensive awareness, we build your technique from the ground up.
One-on-one pad work is crucial for perfecting technique. Here, a young student practices his boxing combinations, improving his power, speed, and accuracy with every punch.
Students learn from each other in my classes. Here, one boy holds the kicking pad for his partner, helping him develop a powerful and accurate Taekwondo-style kick.
This is how we build awareness: 'ए भाई ज़रा देखके चलो'. In our group classes, we practice defensive movements and shadow boxing to stay sharp and alert from all angles.
The energy in our kick day session is always high. Students line up to practice their kicks on the pads, building power and endurance in a dynamic group setting.
This is what a typical session looks like. We mix bag work, sparring drills, pad work, and celebrate every victory, whether it's a new skill learned or a medal won.
About Building the Foundation: Core Drills & Techniques
Forget fancy moves for a minute. The core of my class is 'ए भाई ज़रा देखके चलो' (Hey brother, watch your step). We spend serious time on footwork, stance, and blocking, the repetitive stuff that actually keeps you safe in a real fight. You will be on the mat drilling these movements until your body remembers them even when you are tired. This is how we build a fighter, not just someone who throws random punches.
Why Fundamentals are Non-Negotiable
Many people walk into a gym wanting to spar on day one. That is the quickest way to get injured. At MMA Fitness Zone, we treat your training as a long-term discipline. Whether you are in my Juhu center or training in Goregaon West, the first thing we teach is how to move.
What We Focus On
- Stance & Guard: If your base is weak, your power is wasted. We start with the basics of how to stand and protect your face.
- Shadow Boxing: This is not just air punching. It is about visualizing an opponent and reacting to them. We practice moving backward, forward, and laterally to ensure you are never a static target.
- Pad Work: This is where you learn accuracy. You will drill 1-2 combinations and kick defenses until they become muscle memory.
- Defensive Awareness: My motto 'ए भाई ज़रा देखके चलो' applies here. It is about being aware of your surroundings, your range, and incoming strikes before they happen.
The Progression
Consistency is the only shortcut. We use a structured belt system aligned with WAKO/WUMA standards. You start with yellow and earn your way to black. It is not handed to you. You earn it through attendance, drilling, and showing up when you do not feel like it.
Who This Is For
This cluster is for beginners who want to learn properly and intermediates who need to fix the holes in their game. We maintain a group environment of 8-15 students, so you get individual correction from me, but you also have the energy of a community pushing you to do one more round. If you are in Mumbai and looking for a place to actually learn the craft of combat sports, this is where you start.
