On-Field & Speed Training
Speed is a game-changer. We translate your gym strength to the field with evidence-based drills for acceleration, change-of-direction mechanics, and agility.
Sprinting is a cornerstone of athleticism that benefits all sports, not just track. This track day session demonstrates how I incorporate high-speed running to improve acceleration, power, and endurance, based on proven sports science principles.
Change of direction is where strength meets agility. This video breaks down the key phases of deceleration, planting, and re-acceleration that I focus on during off-season training to help athletes translate their gym gains into game-winning movements on the field.
An evocative black-and-white shot of athletes exploding off the starting line. This image captures the raw power and intensity of our speed training sessions, where every drill is designed to build a more explosive first step.
A group of athletes performing coordinated sprint drills on our turf. This image showcases the competitive and focused environment of our on-field sessions, where athletes push each other to get faster.
Wall drills are a fundamental tool for teaching proper acceleration mechanics. Here, athletes work on maintaining a forward lean and powerful leg drive, reinforcing the body angles required for an explosive start.
Before you run, you must activate. This graphic introduces five essential activation drills I prescribe to prime the muscles, improve mobility, and reduce the risk of common running injuries.
High-speed running is a non-negotiable part of a complete S&C program. This video shows athletes performing max velocity sprints on the track, a critical component for improving top-end speed that cannot be replicated in the gym alone.
A behind-the-scenes look at an on-field training session with professional footballers. Coach Joshua leads them through agility ladder drills, crossover steps, and transition sprints, emphasizing quick footwork and changes of pace.
A wide shot of professional footballers warming up on the field during an off-season camp. This shows the scale of our programs and the organized, professional approach I bring to every session.
Athletes performing dynamic core and mobility exercises on the field. This is a crucial part of our warm-up protocol to prepare the body for the high-intensity demands of a football training session.
About On-Field & Speed Training
Speed isn't just about how fast you run; it’s about how well you stop and restart. Our field sessions focus on the mechanics of deceleration and planting, which are the most common areas where athletes lose time or risk injury. By breaking down your stride and angles during our sessions, we help you translate raw weight-room strength into actual game-time agility.
Most athletes think speed training is just running faster, but at Rapid Sport Fitness, we view it through the lens of physics and human movement. Whether you are playing football or track, your performance depends on your ability to handle high-velocity movements without compromising form. We apply a rigorous framework to every session, dividing your drills into three key phases: the braking phase (deceleration), the propulsive phase (re-acceleration), and the transition phase (planting).
The Science Behind the Speed
We don't rely on guesswork. Our approach is informed by proven research, such as JB Morin’s studies on speed training, which emphasize that sprinting benefits every athlete by improving acceleration and power. In our Koramangala and Jayamahal centers, we use markers, cones, and real-time video analysis to refine your movement patterns. If you are struggling with a heavy first step or feel unstable during directional changes, we identify the exact mechanical fault—be it knee valgus or poor hip stability—and correct it immediately.
Season-Specific Conditioning
Your training demands change throughout the year. During the off-season, we push your limits with intense plyometrics and maximal velocity sprints to build a foundation. Once the season starts, we shift gears to quick, high-intensity sessions that keep you sharp without causing burnout. We treat your on-field time as a critical component of your strength and conditioning program, ensuring you are not just lifting weights, but building an athletic, responsive body ready for any match scenario.
Rapid Sport Fitness
I'm Chelston Pinto, and I built Rapid Sport Fitness to move beyond generic gym culture. My team and I focus on the 'why' behind every movement, ensuring you're not just sweating but actually improving your performance. We are here to train the person, not just the athlete.
