This Mumbai apartment is a study in personality. We designed Frenchie Haus for a couple who wanted their home to be as spirited, colorful, and welcoming as their two French Bulldogs.

Welcome to Frenchie Haus. The living room immediately greets you with bold color choices, like the vibrant blue and green 'Loops' sofa, and the unique Morse code wall in the background.

The living area of Frenchie Haus is an eclectic mix of modern furniture, textured flooring, and clean wall paneling. It's a space that feels both sophisticated and fun.

Our favorite spot in Frenchie Haus is this cozy dining nook. It's the perfect place to snuggle up for a meal, with a view of the custom Morse code wall.

In the master bedroom, a custom-designed cabinet with a tree motif adds a sculptural and artistic element. The bold wallpaper on the ceiling is an unexpected and delightful detail.

The master bedroom features a custom-designed, cloud-like headboard and playful, stacked bedside tables. The design is all about soft curves and tranquil vibes.

The master bathroom is a calm sanctuary. We used sage green kit-kat tiles, a grey marble vanity, and black metal accents to create a space that feels both modern and connected to nature.

Welcome to the sassiest powder room in town. The whimsical, surrealist wallpaper, green marble vanity, and custom-shaped mirror create a space that is full of attitude and personality.

About Project Spotlight: Frenchie Haus

The Morse code wall in the living room is a cryptic, playful nod to the owners' story, and it perfectly anchors the space. Beyond the bold colors and sculptural furniture, this project is really about how we balanced that 'extra' energy with functional, everyday living. We didn’t just want it to look good, we needed it to be a space where a dynamic couple and their dogs could actually lounge without worrying about every single surface.

Frenchie Haus is a testament to what we call our 'transitional' aesthetic. It is not about keeping things minimal or following a rigid design trend. It is about layering. We mixed vibrant jewel tones with tactile textures like the sage green kit-kat tiles in the bathroom, and grounded the entire home with custom stone and wood furniture pieces that our karigars built from scratch.

We wanted this home to feel like a warm hug, not a museum. You will see this in the small details, like the cloud-like headboard in the master bedroom, or the way the sculptural cabinet in the bedroom adds an artistic element that serves a real purpose. Every corner of this apartment, from the sassy powder room to the cozy dining nook, was designed to encourage the owners to pause and engage with their environment. It is a home that embraces both stillness and the beautiful, chaotic reality of living with pets and a busy schedule. If you look closely at the finishes, you will see our signature raw-refined blend—where high-end marble meets playful, unexpected wallpaper choices. This is design that is meant to be lived in, touched, and loved, every single day.

I’m Kumpal. At Purple Backyard, we don't do showrooms. We design homes that feel like a hug, full of layers and stories. Frenchie Haus was all about capturing that playful, 'extra' energy for a couple who really wanted their space to reflect their own chaotic, beautiful lives.
