The Whimsical House: Playful Color & Geometry in Mumbai
A vibrant study in sage green and dusty rose, where architectural geometry meets warm, functional living. This home demonstrates how bold design choices can create a cohesive and energetic sanctuary.

The living and dining area is defined by a unique color palette of sage green and dusty rose, with custom brass shelving for displaying art. The space flows into the breakfast bar, creating an open and social environment.

The open-plan layout connects the dining area to the breakfast bar and kitchen. I used curved geometry and textured paint to frame the kitchen area, creating a distinct yet connected zone.

About The Whimsical House: A Play of Color & Geometry
Achieving a whimsical aesthetic without overwhelming a space requires precise material discipline. In this project, we maintained visual harmony by using a consistent white marble base across the living and dining areas, allowing the bold sage green and dusty rose tones to serve as intentional accents rather than competing elements. The curved geometry of the kitchen archway and the fluted marble TV console soften the structural lines, ensuring the home feels energetic yet grounded.
The design brief for this home focused on capturing a serene yet youthful energy. By utilizing dyed ash grey wooden elements alongside sage and dusty rose, we created a palette that feels both contemporary and warm. The open-concept layout was critical here; the kitchen, dining, and living areas flow into one another, connected by a seamless marble floor that anchors the diverse color scheme.
Customization & Craft
Every piece of furniture in this home is a bespoke creation from our 'Objects by Soch' line.
- The Dining Table: We designed the 'Pellet drum' table, inspired by the geometry of the damru, featuring a Patagonia marble top and a grooved base finished in two-tone polyurethane.
- Furniture Integration: The 'Svelte' chairs and 'Ananta' center table were crafted to balance aesthetic allure with ergonomic precision. The center table, with its infinity-shaped brass base, acts as a sculptural anchor in the living room.
Practical Living
Whimsy should not come at the cost of practicality. We integrated functional elements like the fluted Satvario marble TV unit, which adds verticality and opulence, while maintaining ample hidden storage. Crucially, this home was designed for the entire family, including pets. The materials—from the high-density foam in our custom sofas to the easy-to-clean stone surfaces—were chosen to withstand daily use while maintaining a high-end finish. Whether it is the curved archway defining the kitchen transition or the dedicated appliance nooks, every detail was planned to simplify daily routines while maintaining a visually striking narrative.
