Bespoke Residential Projects in Bengaluru
I design homes that are less about rigid blueprints and more about the rhythm of your life. My approach is to craft spaces that breathe, rooted deeply in the spirit of Namma Bengaluru.
For "A Home by the Park," we created this double-height living room featuring a massive, custom-designed art installation. The piece becomes the focal point, reflecting light and adding texture to the space.
This home features a central rain court with a water body and a cascading water-wall made of carved stone. It acts as the home's microclimate, cooling the air and creating a tranquil soundscape.
The "Grilled Sandwich House" features two duplex units stacked together. This interior shot shows the split-level design, which creates interesting volumes and visual connections between different living areas.
A sectional diagram of the "Grilled Sandwich House." The facade is enveloped in a screen of steel grills that provide security and privacy while creating a unique, abstract architectural identity.
The "Treehugger" project was designed around our client's desire to embrace trees, inspired by the traditional "Nadumuttam" courtyard houses of Kerala. This image shows how we adapted that concept for a modern, urban home.
This 3D render shows a proposed interior design. I use visualizations like this to help clients experience the space, exploring how natural materials, textures, and light will come together in their future home.

About this collection
Before we put a single line on paper, we spend time sketching together. I bring physical models and diagrams to our conversations so we can explore exactly how sunlight moves through your specific plot and how the breeze will flow through your living room on a Tuesday afternoon. This is not about choosing finishes from a catalogue; it is about building a structure that feels like an extension of your own personality.
My design process is a collaborative journey, not a transaction. Whether you are building from scratch or renovating a space, I focus on the intersection of built and unbuilt environments.
The Biophilic Approach In our dense urban landscape, I prioritize bringing the 'Garden City' inside. We achieve this through double-height volumes, internal courtyards inspired by the traditional Nadumuttam, and large-span glazing that blurs the line between your living room and the outdoors.
Materiality and Craft I believe buildings should age with dignity. That is why I lean toward natural materials like exposed wire-cut brick, laterite, and granite. These materials do not hide behind paint; they reveal their texture as time passes. We pair this with modern structural elements, such as perforated metal jali screens for privacy, which also act as natural cooling devices to reduce heat gain.
The Technical Reality Building a custom home requires more than just a vision; it demands rigorous execution. My services cover the full lifecycle of the project, including:
- Technical Documentation: Good for Construction (GFC) drawings, civil modifications, and electrical/plumbing integration.
- Contractor Management: I prepare the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and manage the bidding process to ensure your budget is respected.
- Site Supervision: I conduct 15 to 20 site visits per project to oversee quality control, ensuring the design intent translates accurately into the final structure.
My goal is to create a home that balances art and economy, using passive cooling and rainwater harvesting to ensure your residence is sustainable for the long term.
Chandrakant S. Kanthigavi
I grew up in the Bangalore of trees and gardens, and I carry that spirit into every blueprint I draw. Coming from a family of clay sculptors, I am wired to make things with my hands, and I treat every residential project as a sculpture we are building together.
