Hello, I am Kavita Prakash. My journey with Classical Pilates started over 18 years ago. Mentored by the best at The Pilates Center, I am excited to share my knowledge and guide you on your path to becoming a teacher.

My journey began 17 years ago when I discovered The Pilates Center. I was in awe of their passion and methods. I knew I had to bring their work to India, and 10 years ago, I opened India's first Classical Pilates studio.

I am pictured here with the incredible Amy Alpers, co founder of The Pilates Center. Her mentorship has been instrumental in my journey, and I am honored to carry forward the legacy of Classical Pilates in India.

As a woman fulfilling many roles, I believe self care should be a top priority. I encourage you to pick up a movement regimen that you enjoy and that keeps your heart healthy.

I am Kavita, a classical Pilates teacher. I practice at least three times a week because I believe that to teach well, you must first feel the work in your own body. This dedication helps me empower and uplift my clients.

The Pilates Teacher Training Program with me, Kavita Prakash, is a world class education. I personally mentor each trainee, ensuring you gain expert knowledge in Classical Pilates.

Become a certified Pilates teacher through my program, developed under the tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, heir to the work of Joseph Pilates, via The Pilates Center.

About this collection

I don’t just certify; I mentor. You won’t find pre-recorded modules or mass-market courses here. Every trainee spends hours with me in the studio, learning to cue, spot, and refine movement by feel rather than by book. You need to be prepared for the reality of a 450-hour commitment, but it is the only way to genuinely master the Classical Pilates system.

A Lineage, Not Just a Certification

When you commit to this program, you aren't just signing up for a piece of paper. You are entering a lineage that traces directly back to Joseph Pilates and his protégé, Romana Kryzanowska. My goal is to ensure that the work taught in India is identical in rigour and intent to the work taught at the source.

Why Mentorship Matters

Teaching is not about memorizing a sequence of exercises. It is about understanding the mechanics of a body on the mat or the reformer and knowing exactly how to facilitate change. My role as your mentor is to bridge that gap. We focus on:

  • Tactile Cueing: You will learn to use your hands to guide alignment, not just your voice.
  • Analytical Thinking: I train you to see why an exercise isn't working for a specific client rather than just correcting their position.
  • Voice Modulation: How you speak to a client determines the energy and effectiveness of the session.

The Studio Experience

My studio on Lavelle Road is not a typical fitness gym. It is a classroom for your 450-hour journey. You will have access to the full range of classical apparatus, including the Universal Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and Barrels. You will observe my private sessions, assist in group classes, and eventually teach under my direct supervision. This is the only way to build the confidence required to be a Pilates teacher who can handle any body, from athletes to those requiring rehabilitation.
