About The Gurukul Experience: Our Classroom
You won't find sterile, white-wall classrooms here. Our Jayanagar studio is built for comfort, with communal wooden benches and plenty of natural light. It is a shared workspace where you will be painting alongside fellow learners, fostering a collective energy that keeps you motivated, whether you are working on basic watercolor washes or mastering complex acrylic textures.
Our studio is more than just a place to hold a brush. It is a Gurukul, a sanctuary where we prioritize a slow, deliberate approach to art. We keep our batch sizes small to ensure every student—from complete beginners to those polishing their advanced skills—receives direct, one-on-one feedback during live demonstrations.
We host regular classes in Jayanagar, but we also take our practice outdoors. Our Sunday plein air sessions at Cubbon Park allow students to capture nature in real-time, teaching you to observe light, shadow, and perspective as they appear in the actual world. This hybrid experience helps you transition from studio control to the spontaneity of sketching outdoors.
No prior experience is needed to start with us. We encourage you to bring your own supplies, which gives you the freedom to continue practicing at home and building your own kit. We believe in the process; there are no shortcuts here. You will work on foundational techniques, color mixing, and composition, building your portfolio one stroke at a time. It is about building a sustainable habit, not just creating a single piece.
Pencil and Chai
We believe that everyone has an artist inside waiting for the right moment to bloom. Our studio is simply the space we have created to help you find that quiet rhythm, pencil in one hand and chai in the other.
