Functional & Core Strength Training
Forget gym machines. We build real-world power through bodyweight movements, partner drills, and functional exercises designed to make you strong anywhere.
The ultimate proof of a strong core. My students develop abdominal strength so solid that my guru can stand on them. This is the level of conditioning and trust we build.
Partner drills like these wheelbarrow push-ups make training more dynamic and challenging. This exercise builds exceptional upper body and core strength, and we often do it during our park workouts.
A strong core is the foundation of all movement. This video shows a simple but effective home exercise, bicycle crunches, which I incorporate into routines to target the entire abdominal wall.
Functional fitness starts early. I guide my younger brother through a park workout, including proper push-up form and using playground equipment like monkey bars to build practical, all-around strength.
About Functional & Core Strength
Most gyms rely on fancy machines, but we focus on what your body can actually do. Whether we are using monkey bars at a park or resistance drills in your own living room, every session is about building genuine, functional strength. You will learn partner drills like wheelbarrow push-ups and core-intensive routines that prepare you for real-world demands, not just mirror work.
How We Train
Real strength comes from mastering your own weight. My sessions at Universal Martial Arts, guided by our guru Satish Kumar, strip away the noise of high-end equipment to focus on raw movement. We operate primarily out of Sector 20 and Sector 43-A in Chandigarh, taking advantage of open-air courtyards and public parks for a training environment that builds grit.
The Focus
My approach is built on military-style discipline. We don't believe in shortcuts. We use:
- Partner Resistance: Exercises like wheelbarrow walks force you to stabilize and exert power simultaneously.
- Bodyweight Calisthenics: Push-ups, crunches, and bear crawls that hit multiple muscle groups.
- Core Conditioning: Techniques focused on stability, ensuring your core is strong enough to handle daily stresses and advanced physical tasks.
Why This Works
By training in varied environments—parks, school grounds, or at your home—we teach your body to adapt. This isn't just about getting a six-pack; it is about functional mobility, better posture, and the kind of toughness that sticks with you. If you are looking for a routine that demands focus and rewards you with real physical capability, you are in the right place.
