About this collection
You do not need an engineering degree to start making things here. Whether you are laser-cutting a light-up badge or 3D printing a custom keychain, we focus on the workflow—designing, slicing, and operating the machines. Just a heads up, for most of our sessions, please bring your own laptop so you can follow along with the software, and prepare to take your unique project home.
At Paper Crane Lab, we treat our machines like part of the team. Our 3D printer, Savithree, and our laser cutters aren't behind glass—they are here for you to use.
We approach technology with a 'plug and play' mindset. If you have ever felt intimidated by computer-aided design (CAD), our sessions are designed to break that down. We walk you through the entire process, starting from simple 2D shapes to manipulating them in free software like TinkerCAD, and finally, sending that file to the printer.
We offer a variety of hands-on experiences:
- Intro Workshops: Perfect if you are curious about how additive manufacturing works. We cover the basics of slicing, filament types, and machine maintenance.
- Project-Specific Sessions: Like our popular 'Doodle to Keychain' or '3D Jewellery' workshops, where you walk in with an idea and leave with a finished piece.
- Laser Cutting: Learn to engrave and cut materials to make things like custom stamps or festive light-up badges.
Our Indiranagar lab is a space to mess up and try again. It can be a little chaotic, but that is part of the learning. Whether you are a teen looking to pick up a new skill or an adult wanting to build a physical prototype, our facilitators are here to ensure you walk out saying, 'Aiyyo, that was fun!'
Note that while we provide all the raw materials and tools, we require you to bring your own laptop. If you are joining us for a longer course or need lab access for your own designs, ask us about our hourly passes.
