Featured work from our makerspace
We are a mix of a non-profit and a wild lab, and this is a look at the experiments, prototypes, and fun projects we have been building in our Indiranagar space.
Here’s a look at our laser cutter in action, etching an intricate design onto a wooden cutting board. We love taking a client's digital drawing and transforming it into a beautiful, functional piece like this. This kind of custom laser engraving is perfect for personalized gifts.
A quick 90-second peek into a typical day at our lab. From team meetings and prototyping new products like custom stamps to fixing toys, every day is a mix of creativity, collaboration, and a little bit of fun chaos. This is the energy we bring to every project.
This is how a custom project starts. A client wanted a cookie cutter of the cartoon character Bluey, so we designed it in our 3D modeling software and got it ready for printing. We can turn almost any 2D image or idea into a 3D object.
And here is the delicious result! A perfectly shaped Bluey cookie made using the custom 3D printed cookie cutter we fabricated. It’s so rewarding to see a fun idea become a real, tangible thing that brings joy.
We love helping people create their own personalized apparel. Using our vinyl cutter, we can produce crisp, durable designs that are then heat-pressed onto t-shirts. This video shows a few of the unique custom t-shirts our community members have made.
Check out the incredible variety of projects made by people using our PCL Pass. From a custom MIDI controller to a Catan game piece holder and even a mould for a Murukku maker, our lab is a place for anyone to build their passion projects.
Come join one of our most popular workshops. In our laser engraved coaster class, you get to learn how to use design software, operate the laser cutter, and leave with a set of beautiful, custom coasters that you made yourself.
We often get asked why we started Paper Crane Lab. It’s all about creating a space for curiosity, experimentation, and making mistakes. We believe that mixing art with science and technology makes learning fun and accessible for everyone.
Even our work from home is fun. Here's a satisfying time-lapse of us testing a new laser-cut puzzle prototype. We pay close attention to the details to make sure every piece fits perfectly.
Ever wonder about the machines we use? This video explains our philosophy for choosing our tools, like the vinyl cutter, 3D printer, and laser cutter. We prioritize equipment that is user-friendly and has a low barrier to entry, so anyone can start creating right away.
About Featured
Everything you see here started as a simple idea, often sketched on a napkin or a rough digital file. Whether it is a custom 3D printed cookie cutter or a precision laser-engraved cutting board, we handle the design, prototyping, and final fabrication right here in our Indiranagar lab. We keep things experimental and hands-on, so you get pieces that feel crafted, not mass-produced.
We are not a factory, and we do not pretend to be one. At Paper Crane Lab, we are a group of curious folks who love the messy, experimental side of making. This gallery is a snapshot of our latest projects and prototypes, showing exactly what our machines and our team can do when we mix a little tech with a lot of art.
What we do
We specialize in turning digital ideas into tangible objects. If you have a specific need, we work through the design process with you, prototype it to see if it holds up, and then create the final piece.
- Laser Cutting & Engraving: From personalized coasters to detailed puzzles, we use our laser cutter to etch and cut through wood, acrylic, and more.
- 3D Printing: We turn 2D designs into 3D objects using PLA plastic. It is perfect for functional parts, custom stamps, or unique home decor.
- Vinyl Cutting: We create custom decals and heat-pressed designs for apparel and merchandise.
Why work with us
Our approach is grounded in accessibility. We believe that coding, engineering, and digital fabrication should not be intimidating. That is why our shop is a makerspace first—we want you to be part of the process. If you are in Bengaluru and have an idea for a project, a gift, or a prototype, drop by or send us a message. We are always up for a new challenge.
