Custom Laser Cutting and Engraving
From personalized wooden coasters to intricate puzzles, we use our laser cutter to turn your wild ideas and sketches into real, tangible products.
Here is our brand new laser cutter, the Flux Beambox, on its very first run. We were so excited to unbox it and immediately start testing with a small engraving. This machine has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for custom fabrication projects.
Prototyping is a key part of our process. Here, our laser cutter is cutting out different shapes from acrylic, including a large arrow and some fun, cat-themed rulers. This is how we test designs and materials before final production.
The finished products from our laser cutting prototype session. These custom-designed, cat-themed acrylic rulers are a great example of the unique and personalized stationery we can create for individuals or as branded merchandise.
Our laser-cut coaster workshop is a fantastic introduction to digital fabrication. Participants learn to take a design and turn it into a real product, like these intricately patterned wooden coasters, which they can take home.
We love it when our community members bring their ideas to the lab. Here’s Arun, who used our laser cutter to create a beautifully detailed, custom-engraved coaster featuring a portrait of his dog.
Arun proudly showing off the custom cork coaster he made using our laser cutter. He brought in a photo of his dog, and we helped him turn it into a high-quality laser-etched keepsake.
A set of custom coasters hanging to dry. Using our laser etcher, we can transfer detailed photographs onto materials like MDF, creating unique and personal items like these pet portrait coasters.
This circular wooden piece is a base for a string art kit, precisely cut and marked by our laser cutter. The machine's accuracy is essential for projects that require exact measurements and spacing.
A close-up look at the laser cutter creating a string art base. You can see the laser beam precisely etching the numbers and cutting the notches, a process that would be incredibly difficult to do by hand.
This video shows the process of making a laser-engraved stamp. We first etch the design onto a wooden block, which can then be used to press the detailed dragonfly pattern into clay or ink pads.
About Custom Laser Cutting & Engraving
The quality of your laser cut or engraving starts with the file. We work best with clean vector files like .dxf or .ai, but if you only have a napkin sketch or a rough drawing, we can help vectorize it to get it ready for our Flux Beambox. This prep step is essential for us to ensure clean edges on materials like MDF or acrylic, so let us take a look at your design before we start the laser.
We are not a high-speed factory, and that is by design. Our lab is a place for prototyping and small-batch production where we focus on the details of every piece we cut. Whether you need a one-off gift or a small run of branded merchandise, we treat the process like an experiment. We handle material sourcing, vector preparation, and test cuts to make sure the final output matches what you imagined.
We frequently work with:
- MDF wood (2.5mm to 4mm) for a rustic finish with dark, burnt edges.
- Cast acrylic (clear, colored, or gold mirror) for a smooth, professional look.
- Cork and specialized paper stocks for intricate engraving.
Since we operate as a community maker space, our pricing is straightforward and reflects the machine time and labor involved in setup. We do not do industrial-grade surface finishing like heavy sanding or painting, but we do provide clean, functional, and creative pieces. If you are interested in ready-made designs, you can also browse our Artyfacts line which showcases what our machines can do. Whether it is a pet portrait on a coaster or a custom puzzle, we are here to help you make it.
