Young Warriors Program for Kids
I teach kids that discipline and strength aren't just about winning a fight—they’re about building a foundation for life. My program blends karate, yoga, and meditation to grow focus, agility, and confidence in every student.
Discipline has no age limit. Here you can see my youngest students in our kids karate class demonstrating incredible flexibility with full splits and backbends. We build a strong foundation from day one.
Strength and flexibility are skills that are earned through consistent practice. My young students are seen here working on advanced backbends and leg stretches, safely pushing their boundaries and building physical confidence.
A glimpse into the stretching routine for my kids karate class. Dressed in their gis, these young warriors learn the importance of warming up and developing flexibility, which is crucial for both safety and performance in martial arts.
Even the most energetic warriors need to learn stillness. My kids karate class practices group meditation to improve focus, control their breathing, and build the mental discipline that is just as important as physical skill.
This video shows a typical kids fitness session, moving from meditation to dynamic warmups and deep stretches. I teach them to connect with their bodies, building agility and body awareness from a young age.
At St. Francis school, I run a program that includes meditation, karate basics, and traditional stick fighting techniques. This helps children develop a wide range of skills, from mental focus to coordination and self-defense.
About Young Warriors Program
Whether your child is learning to hold a backbend or mastering their first karate stance, we focus on the foundation. We don't just teach moves; we train them in a specific sequence of meditation, dynamic warm-up, and technique that develops both physical flexibility and mental discipline. This structure helps children regulate their energy and gain control over their movements, regardless of whether they are absolute beginners or have been training for months.
Martial arts is not just about punches and kicks; it is about 'chankootam'—the guts and courage to stand tall. In my Young Warriors Program, I create an environment where kids learn to be strong inside and out.
How We Train
We treat the training space as a ground for character building. Each session follows a disciplined flow:
- Meditation & Mindfulness: We start by teaching kids to quiet the noise, improving their focus before we even begin physical movement.
- Flexibility & Agility: Using yoga-based stretches, we build a range of motion that protects them from injury and prepares them for the demands of martial arts.
- Karate & Self-Defense: We teach practical movements that build coordination, balance, and confidence. It’s about knowing how to handle oneself, not just learning choreography.
Why This Approach Works
I see kids grow from hesitant beginners into confident warriors. We run these programs in structured sessions at our BTM Layout studio and through specialized initiatives at schools like St. Francis. By integrating stick fighting techniques with traditional karate and fitness drills, I ensure the training is varied and engaging.
There are no shortcuts here. If your child is ready to put in the work, they will develop the mental toughness that helps them in school, at home, and in everything they take on. My students are my army, and I am here to help them build the discipline to win their own battles.
